Just saying it tongue-in-cheek. But really, when you are as rich as Michael Jordan do you just increase your bets until you can't bet higher? Do you get beards to take your action for you?

I would think a billionaire like Mike wouldn't get too much of a thrill winning a $10k bet.

CHICAGO - Retired NBA legend Michael Jordan was hailed as the greatest player in basketball history by two potential rivals to the throne on Friday as he celebrated his 49th birthday.

As "Lin-sanity" grips the NBA surrounding Jeremy Lin, the first U.S.-born NBA player of Taiwanese and Chinese heritage who has gone from bench-warmer to star for the New York Knicks, Jordan's legendary career was recalled by other icons.

LeBron James, the Miami Heat star still searching for his first title after two losing trips to the NBA Finals, posted a Twitter message calling Jordan The G.O.A.T., for Greatest of All Time.

"Happy B-day to the person I idolized and wanna to be just like as a kid playing the game of basketball Michael Jordan. #TheG.O.A.T." James tweeted.

Magic Johnson, the former Los Angeles Lakers star who now serves as a television commentator, praised Jordan in comments for ESPN.

"His will to win was higher than everyone else's," Johnson said of Jordan. "His talent level was higher than everyone else's and then he was the ultimate competitor. He wanted to win more than anybody else I've ever faced in my life.

"Michael Jordan, happy birthday — you know you were the world's greatest."

Jordan guided the Chicago Bulls to six NBA crowns in the 1990s, winning three in a row before retiring at age 30 in 1993 to attempt an ill-fated career in baseball.

In March 1995, Jordan returned to the NBA but the Bulls were ousted by Chicago in the second round of the playoffs. But then Jordan guided the Bulls to NBA crowns in 1996, 1997 and 1998 before retiring for a second time in 1999.

Jordan was named president of the NBA Washington Wizards in 2001 and returned to the court for two final seasons with the team before retiring yet again in 2003, finishing with 32,292 points, third on the NBA all-time list.

After flopping in the front office for the Wizards, Jordan took an executive role with the NBA Charlotte Bobcats and then purchased the NBA club, but Jordan's on-court magic has not followed him as a dealmaker and talent scout.

The Bobcats have the NBA's worst record this season at 3-26 and are mired in a 16-game losing streak.

With high-leaping acrobatic shots and clutch baskets in the dying seconds of games, Jordan lived up to the Nike-powered hype as a generation of basketball followers sought to "Be Like Mike" and wear Air Jordan sneakers.

Jordan's endorsement power continues well after his playing career has ended. Forbes magazine has estimated Jordan's net worth at $500 million, largely because his Nike brand items remain a $1 billion moneymaker.

Jordan led the NBA in scoring for 10 seasons, seven in a row from 1987 through 1993 and again from 1996-1998. He was a five-time NBA regular-season Most Valuable Player and six-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player.

He also won two Olympic gold medals, most famously with the 1992 Barcelona Olympic U.S. "Dream Team", the first all-NBA squad to compete in the Olympics and still the most dominant team ever seen in the Games.

Jordan divorced his wife Juanita in 2006 and became engaged to Cuban-born model Yvette Prieto last December.

How about his Dad was murdered because of gambling debts? Do you think that was simply a randon act of violence in the middle of NoWhere, North Carolina? 2 drifters just happened to run up on MJ's Dad and rob and murder him. 100 million to one or better.

Could Michael Jordan still play at 50?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Michael Jordan has been retired from the NBA for a decade, but he warned at his Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2009 not to count him out from making one last comeback.
"One day you might look up and see me playing the game at 50," Jordan said near the close of his speech, eliciting laughter from the crowd in Springfield, Mass. "Oh, don't laugh. Never say never. Because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion."
Jordan turns 50 in about a week on Feb. 17. What would happen if he traded in his ownership stake in the Charlotte Bobcats for one more chance to lace up his Air Jordans in the league? Could he do it?

That's saying a lot, considering Jamison has Bryant on his team, and only averages 8.1 points per game in 20.5 minutes per game and he's "only" 36 years old.
Jordan averaged 20.0 points in 37.0 minutes per game in his 15th and final season in the league before retiring for good at age 40.
"He wasn't joking," said Jamison of Jordan's declaration at the HOF ceremony. "You hear stories still to this day, especially last year, him going to the practice facility and playing 1-on-1 with the guys and still they can't stop him."
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Matthew "Nat" Hickey was the oldest player in NBA history when he played one game for the Providence Steam Rollers at 45 years, 363 days old on Jan. 28, 1948.
Jamison, who used to play during the summer months in Chapel Hill, N.C., against his fellow University of North Carolina alum in Jordan, said the former six-time NBA Finals MVP has the confidence to pull it off.
"He still believes he can do it," Jamison said.
Even though Jordan is older than a lot of the parents of players in the NBA and hasn't suited up since the 2002-03 season for the Washington Wizards, Jamison said he still has a major impact on the league as he approaches his 50th birthday.
"The key is, that's the guy we wanted to be like," Jamison said. "This guy inspired us to try to do it all, the impossible and the man over there (gestures to Bryant's locker), he's trying to catch him so that just lets you know his impact is still felt and he's just done so much for this league as well."
