Is this fair, and how many will honestly answer?

Maybe the men at BHB would sound off on this, or JoeY C...

Jman.. I think it's a fair question to ask. Do I think I will get a straight and true answer? probably not.

Shrink..if Books are allowing us to play on credit then sure they can ask, but if we are posting up our funds before even placing a bet what does it matter to them what our reserve is? Only one side has a possibliity of being stiffed and it's not the BOOK.

I think it is not a bad question to ask. After all when we send our post up to them they know exactly what we have to bet with.. SO why could we not ask them what there reserve is to pay us if we win. IMO

Its more than fair but its unlikely you'll get a truthful answer from most.

If you are posting up funds it is so that the bookie knows you're good for it if you lose.

It would be nice to know that he can pay you if/when you win (but again don't hold your breath waiting for a truthful answer).

I was just messing with JMan...

It is a fair question, but one that they will rarely be truthful on...

And even if they show you bank records, they can be altered...

If it's not a publicly traded company, it's none of your business. You are not an owner and no, it is not a fair question.

J Man:

Sure it's a fair question, but I doubt you'll get a square answer.

All you can do is judge a book by it's most recent ( 1 week) history.

If a book starts to have cash problems, it will be most likely noted in these forums - and promptly.

Some guys whine here if they can't get a neteller payment in 10 minutes, or a Sunday PM western union, etc.

fair to ask?....most definitely

gonna get a straight answer?...probably not

think about it....if u are dealing with a stiff book, of course they will tell you they have half a mil in reserve for any quick payouts, but they may in fact have zilch.....

you're better to just bet with SHRINK, he gots it all.........

I agree with you, even if they tell you an ammount, how could you possibly know the veracity of such figure...How many books are public, I know Sportingbet is...

$500,000 reserve? $500k is chump change in this business. The "solid" books have well into the 8 figure range as a bankroll.

Bookmaking is like belonging to a special club, and we all hang out in the clubhouse..In this clubhouse we have a set of ethics and codes we must live by..Rule #1..Never book a bet you cannot cover..A true book offers great customer service, good will, and timely payouts..Every once in awhile, we have someone who breaks the code and hurts us all..The trees start shaking and the bad apple falls out..
In all my years in the business no customer has asked me how much $ I have, and conversely I have never asked a customer how much $ he has..On second thought...........
