09/16/03 SBR has Homebets phone lines traced to a suburb of Mexico City, Mexico where operating a book is highly illegal and dangerous - Players should use extreme caution - SBR rating to remain at F+

TTinCO, obviously you have not been to Mexico lately. Mexico has LAND BASED sportsbook with horse racing and dog racing and ALL sports that can be bet up to $10,000 per bet

Ex:

Caliente is licensed by Mexican Govt.

They deduct a small piece off winnings to pay govt taxes.

eh, it sounds like they could use your help. Their site has been down for 2 days now due to an upgrade gone bad.

I'm not sure if that's the real story or not-the site ironically went down soon after the SBR announcement.

Licensed race and sportsbooks in Mexico are indeed legal.

For Mexicans to bet at.

It is against the law for them to take bets from out of the country, however, and Presidente Fox certainly would cooperate with US authorities in any way needed.

So unless you are in Mexico, stay out of Mexico indeed.

I would'nt say it's just for mexicans. I've gone to several wagering house's that go by the name of Turf Club. They are all along the US border with Mexico. Each has a Race and Sportsbook. I like the atmosphere, the food is good and the drinks are excellent.

No, you are right there, BigTex.
IF you can walk into a place, some of them are fairly nice.

I don't believe that is what is being talked about earlier in this thread though, the talk there is about internet/phone betting into Mexico.
