Just enjoying the prekickoff nerves that are part of the rush. I've always thought that if we don't constitute the betting public then who does?
Statistically, yes, we are part of the betting public but think of the number of active RX forum posters -- then think about the number of bets placed on the game at a particular casino... now multiply that number 300 or so (the number of casinos in america with a sportsbook). Now imagine the number of books not affiliated with a legit casino and the number goes up.
Sure we are part of the betting public-- but your sample-size is flawed. It's like going to a whisky convention and polling the crowd about honey whiskey. Sure the conventioneers are part of the public, but would the results differ from a broader sample-size that included people not obsessed with whiskey? You betchya.
I would hope that most of this board is bucking popular opinion-- but not every sports gambler is a forum member. I'm willing to wager most bettors are probably too proud to admit they had any help. They like to feel smart and that they figured out some weird obscure stat or trend that is worth wagering tons on.
Me? I just like money and it seems like the books win more often than they lose... But they do lose, and maybe it's tonight.. But they have to lose from time to time in order to suck in the chumps and make the mush feel like they've got a chance.
Honestly though-- I was going to post the same goddamn post about 5 minutes before you did
but I do see a couple people out there (here, on this board) on Indy.
