Well there's not much room for doubt.

All that remains is deciding what to do.

Hassan Rohani told Reuters news agency there was nothing
the West could do that would persuade Tehran to scrap its nuclear
programme.

Mr Rohani said that not even the offer of lifting US sanctions
or security guarantees from Washington would be enough to make
Iran abandon its enrichment programme.

The US believes Iran is years away from developing nuclear arms

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- E IIMA -->Iran's top nuclear negotiator says Iran will retaliate and accelerate its efforts to develop nuclear technology if attacked by the US or Israel.

Hassan Rohani told Reuters news agency there was nothing the West could do that would persuade Tehran to scrap its nuclear programme.

Both the US and Israel have said it would be unacceptable for Iran to have nuclear weapons.

Iran says its nuclear programme will be used to generate electricity.

The US has refused to rule out a military strike on Iran, but has said it will try to resolve the dispute by diplomatic means.

Enrichment activities

Mr Rohani, secretary-general of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said Iran's ability to produce its own nuclear parts had made it "invulnerable" to attack since it could simply rebuild whatever was destroyed.

"If such an attack takes place then of course we will retaliate and we will definitely accelerate our activities to complete our fuel cycle and make nuclear fuel," he said.

"But I do not think the United States itself will take such a risk," he added. "They know our capabilities for retaliating against such attacks."

Mr Rohani said that not even the offer of lifting US sanctions or security guarantees from Washington would be enough to make Iran abandon its enrichment programme.

"Uranium enrichment is Iran's right," he said.

Iran has agreed to suspend all its enrichment activities during negotiations with Britain, France and Germany.

The US is not taking part in negotiations, and wants Iran to be referred to the UN Security Council, which has the power to impose sanctions.

The European countries would like to use a package of incentives to induce Iran to give up its nuclear ambitions, but Tehran has said it is disappointed with what is on offer so far. It says it can only continue talks for a matter of months, not years. Enriched uranium can be used to produce nuclear power, but the technology behind it can also be used to develop weapons-grade nuclear material.

Well let's do it and get on with it. I'm sick of this crap. Let's see just how much sack King George II has. He's pretty tough when it comes to $hitholes worn down after 10 years of sanctions. Iran may be a little tougher nut.
The EU tried the carrot, time for the Marlboro man and his stick or shtick.
Whooppee are we having fun yet?

Sounds like you'd be cheering on Iran if it came to blows. Typical left wing reaction.

listen. we have 40,000 troops on the right of Iran and 135,000 on the left of Iran. If we do this now we save a hell of alot transport a nd lives. Iran has a army comparable to Pakistan and india, with alot of troops, poor tech. I'm not sayin its the right thing as Iraq was wrong but we're there, lets do it soon.Oh by the way you can't win religion wars.

Apple:

The move against Iran brings Israel into play and then all bets are off ... Iran finances Hezbollah and Assad controls S Lebanon and 15,000 rockets in S Lebanon that can hit deep into Israel .. many armed with VX gas

Many of the nuke reactors are underground and underneath complexes that house many civilians .. this aint like taking out the reactor Israel did in 1981: which by the way, the United States, with leading spokesman George Bush, condemned ...

I don't think you'll see us go into Iran. I think Iran's people are more pro western than many realize, and are close to a revolution on their own. I think we just want to push the Iranian people to that conclusion, and they'll overthrow the government themselves. I just hope that they don't nuke their only people.

Is that like the revolution a mere 20 years ago when they booted America out of Iran?

We have quite a few ways to pressure Iran other than a full scale invasion (which ain't happening). Airstrikes, naval blockade, economic sanctions, supporting internal dissent, giving Israel the green light, etc.

For all those who like to whine about cost, most of the above (like economic sanctions or supporting internal dissent) cost very little money. Even a naval blockade would be pretty cheap since Iranian access to the Gulf is so limited.

The mullahs may be psychotic, but they aren't dumb. They know what lies ahead if they dare to tangle with us.

Why would you want to be considered loyal to a government that makes morally reprehensible choices like attacking other nations for the general hell of it? President Bush laid out his NSS in 2002 and stated that his plan is to attack any nation that not only is a threat or perceived threat to America, but which might become a threat in the future, even if they aren't currently. I think you're calling the wrong people "traitors," if by your use of the term you mean "traitor to America." The men who founded this country would have taken W. out back and kicked his ass.
