I have a simple dial up connection (56k) to the net. Everyday when I play the races on YouBet website sometime between 3:00PM and 3:30PM Eastern Time...my computer gets disconnected from the internet. I am able to get back on each time...only being offline for 1 minute or less....BUT--what is causing this? I asked my ISP provider about it and he told me to leave my email program open to check for email every 10 minutes or so; which I do. He says if it detects no activity for 20 minutes then there will be a disconnection.
I leave the email program open to check ...but it continues to happen.

It's not the computer at all. If it only happens during that time and you get disconnected twice then you should not worry. Back in the day when i had 56k it used to d/c all the damn time. Somtimes it's certain times of the day where there is more traffic.

Sounds like your ISP has some "inactivity" disconnect set up.

Why you would use the internet without dsl or cable is beyond me-it's like night & day.
