Cool article, thanks. Can anyone ever remember both FSU and Miami having such horrible QB's at the same time? I wonder if Gino Torretta or Charlie Ward have any eligibilty left?

Poe, I am probably going to go to hell for saying this, but a coaching change (and I do not mean just the OC, but the whole staff with the exception of Mickey.) I have been involved in countless arguements with other Nole alums over this issue, they all feel that I am on crack. But the program has been headed in the wrong direction for several years now, and I do not put all of the blame on the QB. We no longer recruit good character guys, and that falls on the coach. Making Jeff the OC was one of the many bad decisions that Bobby has made, and everyone seems to be too afraid to hold him accountable. I get absolutely disgusted when I hear people say that he should be able to coach as long as he wants. This is f--king bull----!! A job is a priveledge, not an obligation, that must be earned (and this applies to anybody working in any capacity.) I know that he is still winning is 9-10 games a year, but that is only b/c we still are able to bring in top recruits. And that alone gets us through the majority of our schedule; when the two sides are close to evenly matched with athletes, we will get outcoached 99 times out of 100.

mws, scary thought, but do not rule it out. with the power that bobby holds over the program, he may be able to name his successor. if/when a change is made, we must get away from the whole bowden clan altogether. they are good people, but we need a new direction. lol

Actually Nolefan, I feel exactly the same as you. About what 3 or so years ago, when things started to change, I was at that point starting to think that we should make a drastic change. Bobby cant be here forever and when he does leave, there will be serious turmoil. When we lost Richt and Chuck, I thought that was the time we need to make a change. Because we have not, we have struggled to recruit like in the past and have lost the swagger of the years gone by. I am a younger guy and had 3 years in tally where not only didnt we lose at home, we wasted everyone.

When the time comes for a change, we will then be set back a few years. Why not get it over with?

another link for ya,

Bobby Bowden said earlier this week that he strongly considered demoting Chris Rix and putting in another quarterback. But what about Bobby demoting his own son -- offensive coordinator Jeff Bowden -- and bringing in somebody more qualified? Have you seen the latest NCAA statistics? Florida State's offense is ranked dead last in the country -- 117 out of 117 -- after Friday night's embarrassing performance against Miami. In 2000, the year before Jeff Bowden was put in charge, Florida State's offense was ranked No. 1 in the country. Go figure. You want more statistics? Check these out: Since Baby Bowden took over, FSU's once-feared offense has sunk steadily down the NCAA rankings. In 2001, a year after former coordinator Mark Richt's offense led the nation, FSU's offense plunged to No. 26 nationally. From there, the Seminoles dropped to No. 32 in 2002 and to No. 37 last year.

I agree with you guys on Bowden and his boy being the OC.. Its a joke.. Getting outcoached game in, game out.. Its ok to say "Joe must go" (Paterno), but not Bobby? I don't get it..

Man, I wish I had read the article before the game last weekend. Is this the same guy Herbstreit had on his short list for the Heisman?

Poe, Thanks for the article. It is time for Bobby to open his eyes and see what the rest of the college football world sees. We will continue to stuggle until he swallows his pride and admit that this five year project with Rix has been a bust.

LT, I don't know and don't care. I am as big a Nole backer as any, but am a realist and will call a duck a duck. Good luck to your Gators this weekend, I took them at +3.

IM going out on a limb here: I have to say Nole fan it please me to see fans discuss their team in a civil matter and with good knowledge. Jeff Bowden needs to be fired, they are DEAD LAST in offensive production in the NCAA -1. Chris Pix Sucks, he has his moments but just like Bowden said for every good moment he has he as 4 bad ones.FSU will do a lot better as soon as Rix leaves. They had a chance to beat UM, if they had a decent QB!
