I've seen these posts on here from time to time so it got me to thinking. I hope no one minds this being my 1st post

I've been a professional poker player for the last 6 years and am looking for a change of pace, something a little more professional, and maybe a change of scenery. I've made a lot of money from poker, but some life situations have me in a position now where I'd like to be in something where I can apply the same skill-set a little more concretely. I've got a small background in finance & marketing as well.

Would really just like to see what kind of opportunity there is for a person with my background. Figure it's a long-shot, but what the hell. I'm not in Costa Rica but would of course have no problem relocating. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated. If anyone is in a position where they think my background could make me useful, ask away. I'd really love to be able to apply what I've learned in a more structured business environment

Thanks

Man, you sound like you would be hired as a clerk. You'd make around $1k/month down here at that (I'm assuming you would work under the table since you don't sound like you have your papers in order), unless you have a college degree/experience at something well paid (line moving, marketing, management, programming) that would allow you to work doing something more decent.

Please do yourself a favor, don't call your self a professional poker player on your CV. I've seen dozens of 'pro poker' players answering phones for $4/hour, so that isn't going to help.

I'd suggest that if you are making good money playing poker, then keep at it and don't think about coming down here unless it is to blow that money/set up a poker site.

If you just want a change of scenery but would like to keeping playing poker. San Jose has enough poker action to make a living. Could amount to more than working in a book or a site as a clerk. Guess you could do both.
