In the NBA, how often can you middle with a half point?

For example, I have NO -2 at +115 and Minnesota +2.5 at -115. How often does the game land on New Orleans by 2?

enought to try that everytime! BOL!

(as long as you are confident on both books ability to pay out, you hate to lose on the good book and win on the risky one over and over.)...

Both of these are very good books, one is A rated and one is B rated. I am just curious as to the profitability of the half point in the NBA. For example, is it still profitable if New Orleans was -2 at +110 and Minnesota was +2.5 at -115. Do you have any idea triply try? I know this is killer long-term in the NFL, but I honestly don't know much about NBA

Yes

The number "2" is worth at least 8 cents(meaning you that -115 and +110 is a win in this situation(as it would be with any half pt. difference in the NBA as there is only a 5 cent difference for the half point).

Most half numbers in the NBA with lines under -9.5 are worth roughly 6.7 cents..........the half points surrounding the numbers 2 and 7 are worth the most.

Fantastic, thank you fish. I had a pretty good feeling either yourself or Iceman would know. I appreciate it.

Quick curiosity question though. Why are 2 and 7 the most valuable? I thought it would be more of a sliding scale of value. Do you know or is that just what you have found?

Thanks again

Okay, I'm not exactly sure of the terminology. This is just what I have come to call it in my discussions OTB. Thanks.

A "side" is where at best you will WIN and TIE.......a "middle" would enable you to WIN both sides(-2.5 and +3.5).

The number 2 because you have a tie game working for you, which means a team has a chance for a last second bucket to win the game by 2..........similar to a winning FG in football, but not nearly to that degree.

The number 7 becasue in a close game, teams will foul late, and for whatever reasons, the number 7 just happens to fall more often than other numbers other than the number 2(but they are very close). Some will argue the number 5 is just as "live" as the number "7".......but I disagree.

If your not paying more then 7 cents for a half point around the numbers 2, 5, and 7, you have a longterm win.

Right. I knew the middle part, when talking to others though I was calling it a half point middle. I'll update my vernacular.

No biggie hines. Its a good question that is very valuable to know. You are own your way to learning something very valuable.

Pretty soon, you will be one of the select few that can get 5 pt middles.

Thanks FH and WW

Appreciate all the help. I'm young and still have a lot to learn.

I agree with Fish, 7 is usually the number teams STOP fouling under 24 seconds left.

At 5 even with 8 seconds left defense will still foul

From 1-7 in college basketball, every number is live...agree that 7 is better than 5...two posessions can still win with the 5....

I don't agree. 7 is not the magical number that teams stop fouling.

Agree, probably not.

Having said that, it is my belief(and I middled the NBA for years and kept detailed numbers) that a spread of 7 is more "key" than any spread number other than 2.......and there was a time when I believed it was almost as "key".
