I'm Shocked at what my daughter told me this morning..

I have a 16 yr old that is attending Summer School. She spent the night last night and we had lots of fun together.

Well this morning when I woke her up she saw that I was watching the Soccer game. She knows I gamble and she asked if I had a bet on the game...I told her I did..

Then out of the blue she says that he teacher also gambles on Soccer...I asked her how she knew and she stated that he makes bets during class in front of the whole class. He made a bet the other day for $200.00 and he stopped class to do it. She her him ask for a team and say to the other person on the phone that he wanted top wager $200.00 on a certain team....the whole class heard him. Then she asked if I would let her make a bet in my account...I about hit the floor:nohead:


Just wondering how you guys would handle this...it upsets me alot and I want to call the School and complain...just not sure I want to cost someone their job...

Help me out here..

With your daughter, I would probably let her make a bet with you if she put the money up first.

My parents had me going to dog tracks and playing poker on a weekly basis when I was a LOT younger than 16.

Don't get him busted......I would not say a thing to anyone......I will admit, I am guilty of doing the same thing, but I do it when no kids are around. And yes, summer school is different (teachers are more laid back etc)........Dont cost this guy his job, he is just a degenerate like the rest of us. Also, if he is tenured, there is a possibility that the school board would not do a thing about it anyhow

I do let me daughter gamble w/ me sometimes...in fact she gave me the Mia pick last night, but thats another story.

If I were still a teacher with todays cellphone technology, I would be running into the bathrooms in between every class to check the lines and/or wager.

Retired teacher here. Sounds like the guy was trying to appear cool to the kids. Otherwise, why not wait until the first break or excuse yourself to the bathroom.
While he certainly is unprofessional, you should be aware that reporting him will put your girl in a tough spot. She'd probably have to testify at any hearing. I'd consult her whatever I decided to do.
