I said Oregon would likely roll to an easy conference title game as north division champs...... Yeahhhhhh..... They're clearly regressing and are a shitshow of epic proportions right now. I own those words. I'll eat my words too. Maybes there a slim chance they can beat Stanford and win the north but I'm not liking the chances. Serious changes are in order for that program, coaches down to players. Clearly they've lost their identity and the time to rebuild has begun. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

go ahead and wear me out. I'll take it like a man and eat my crow. Oregon is waaaayyyy down this year. I hope they make the necessary adjustments to the coaching staff and players, that was utterly embarrassing

Respect for manning up. 62 points jeezus never saw that coming, but looking at how they played some of the patsies so close... Thing is what does this mean regarding the Michigan a State game? Interesting...

When I watched the Michigan State game I kept saying to myself: No way these are two top 5 teams. Mich. St. is now 0-4 ATS.

Coaches dont give a shit about the spread. They want to win. Just look around and see how hard it is to win these days. Eveybody is struggling some.

One bad game doesnt warrant any kind of major changes. That staff has won a lot of games. It's one game played by kids.

I do get your points Run but the abysmal defense is not something that came with just this one game. It has been an issue for quite sometime except that offense masked it for the most part where it counted which is on the scoreboard.

The most important thing is to salvage this season for recruiting purposes. Need to go at least 8-4 or 9-3 in the regular season. If this turns into a dumpster fire it's going to be horrific. Oregon needs to think about making some changes at their offensive and defensive coordinator positions and bringing in some bigger names that can revamp their schemes and bring some life back to the program. The QB play is the most important part of Oregon. If they have a good QB they will win 10+ every year. Fix the offense first and get it back on track. Then you overhaul the defense because as we all know great offenses can take you to the playoffs but defense wins championships. I'm very interested to see where the program goes and how the team responds

Never going to happen, secondary is to young/inexperienced and huge problem at QB, I think they will be lucky to win 7 games this year. This season looks gone and just need learn from the mistakes and move forward.

That was an epic beat down last night. I just read it was the worst home loss since 1977. A few teams in the Pac may be getting some payback this year against the ducks

Agreed. Oregon is still a great team....and they are building a program. Losing a star QB isn't easy on any team or program. A "team" is a situation where the school is good for a few years...and a "program" is one that remains relevant year in and year out. "Programs" have down years. Oregon has built a solid foundation. They're just having a rough go right now.

UTAH is a very, very good team. They have an excellent coach and are pretty senior laden with 4 years of PAC12 talent, lets not forget that fact. I didn't see the game YET, was dealing with my own implosion as my USC went up in my SunDevils pretty good last night and I had the pleasure of flying out to Tempe to watch it.
I recall someone telling me how great the Oregon skill players are. They are very good, but if you can't stop anyone, you are left with attempting to outscoring everyone. Oregon will regroup, however, since neither Adams or Lockie is going to be around next year, they need to get the future qb some snaps if that player is on the current roster. They don't have to be the starter, but they need to start getting a series or two. See what HC Sumlin is doing at A&M with Kyler Murray.

Lockie is a junior so he will be back next year unless he transfers which I doubt he will, he just isn't a starting QB.

The problem is their is no other QB to turn to right now, after Mariota's freshman year what QB was going to commit to Oregon knowing he was going to be sitting for the next 2-3 years, zero.

The only other QB to see action against Utah is a local kid who was a walk on 2013, that's how bare the cupboard is right now. They have two QB's coming in next year who they are high on but till then they don't have many other options.

Tried to tell you guys this a few months ago but you swore the kid from North Carolina that signed with Oregon over Duke and Idaho would be a stud in 'the system'.

It wasn't the system. Mariota was special. Kelly was special. They gone...tried to tell ya

Agree with this.

Mariotta and Kelly made that thing run. They got by on what Kelly left behind for a few years, but now its a different ballgame.

You can keep the same "system", but it just isn't the same without the main guy in charge. That was Chip Kelly.

Coach spelled it out for you. There's a difference between good programs and good teams. Alabama signs a 5 star rb or 2 every class. Stoops always get a top QB to OU. Tennessee after Dobbs breakout sophomore season signed 3 4 star qb in the next class. Got a 4 star in the one after that, 5 star in the next one and closing in on a 5 star in the next one. That's a good program, just not a good team right now

Let's wait and see. Oregon stopped playing. That happens. It's a different mentality when you are top 5 in your mind and then you lose early and have a bad quarter or two. What if by years end we are saying Utah is that good? If they make a run and win the Pac12 and become a playoff team, we are talking differently about this outcome.

I understand all the recruiting talk, and all those points are valid. Here's what no one is talking about and I've brought up before in one or two other threads: first off lockie is a backup, end of story. Secondly, Oregon brought in VA who is a gunslinger used to lining up 4-5 wide and throwing the ball 35-45 times a game. He's a passer, not a runner. It's not VAs fault the ducks aren't scoring when they won't tweak the system to fit his play type and use all those good WRs in open space....(see Texas A&M for example) that's how they should run their offense for one year, why not??? Because it's not their identity?? Well they have no identity right now.... Been saying this for two seasons now, Scott frost is the issue

I should also say this to make my point clear. I understand as we all do just how bad the defense is struggling; but when you're only scoring 28-31 a game and giving up 30-40 you're going to lose a lot. Why not tweak the system and let Va throw more, create numbers game/matchups at the line and check to runs.... If you can't stop their offense then you need to try to win every game 49-48..... Just the way it is

we're just going to have to accept that this is a down season for us...Not the end of the world.. we'll still try and win this year.. hopefully we bounce back and finish decently... Still going to be a fun season to watch other teams and their programs... I will be rooting for teams and there fans in other conferences that I respect in here.. specifically OSUBucks with Ohio St, Keyman & RT with Bama, CoachCB with Fla, and GS with his Sooners..
