If you use a "system" when betting, are you still a Handicapper?

Or are you just a player? A handicapper has always stuck to me as a stat guy, someone who looks at the injuries, the home/away records, Rankings, etc and narrows down his selection, choosing the best looking team by the numbers.

What if you just angles and trends and build a system that tends to satisfy your goals in wagering? Are you still a handicapper so to speak?

A system gets alot of tweaking along the way to success, but I would like to hear your feedback on the matter of being a handicapper and what it really means.

Thanks

yes. becuase what is Handicapping? I always thought it was the art of deciding which team stood a better chance in relation to the number or who stood a better chance at winning a given contest SU. I believe trends and angles (even when solely used) help you achieve this, along with the other things mentioned in the first paragraph.

Even if it is the exact same system all season long, I would think this is still a method of handicapping.

but if you told me you were just following a simple system all year long, I will be the first to kid you and say "you arent a real handicapper"

My BEST system is FADING Lander...

I wonder if that's handicapping or not but it sure pays off BIG dividends!!!

Shrink, with the two of you fading each other all the time it is hard to tell who is really on what half the time. I think this is the RX version of the computer group or something. Only Shrink and Lander really know who the hell is on what.

If one is handicapping games, there is going to be the occasional trend seen. Ignoring these trends is probably the antithesis of handicapping.

Maybe there's different types of handicapper; e.g. those who handicap for the love of the game and for the thrill of usually being right vs. those who handicap in order to make money.
