NOW (and Hill) were strongly against Thomas's nomination because of his ideology. The Dems threw everything they could at Thomas but his nomination still got voted out of committee onto the floor. NOW convinced Hill that a sex harassment charge would get him to drop out, and Hill went along with it as long she could remain anonymous. The Thomas didn't drop out, the Democrats leaked Hill's name to the media, Hill was shown to be a uncredible witness, and Thomas was confirmed after some extremely bloody battles.

One of Hill's 'stunning' accusations was a comment by Thomas "I think there's a pubic hair on my coke can". It is quite laughable now, particulary considering how seriously NOW took accusations of sexual harassment regarding Clinton.

it never ceases to amaze me that people like boy and doc are the very people
that see skin color first. the very thing that they accuse conservatives
about. boy from the blue state of hawaii and doc from the ultra blue

In the mean time a Bush/Cheney friendly company came over to purchase and develop Hawaiian Aina and was met with pickets and protestors. Knowing that this group would pillage and rape the land the area was fenced with huge signs saying Hawaiian Aina not for Federal use and not for friends of the Feds. It looks like the Alaska Industry will now not invest in Hawaii and look elsewhere.

Hawaii has a moderate Rep Gov who won election on belief in Hawaiian land ownership as well as rabbies law while getting people hopeful about a plan to combat housing shortages and traffic problems.
