What kind of number do you think the books will hang Federer? I'm thinking around -250 considering Federer is a monster on grass. I think Roddick will have a chance if his serve is on. I'm taking Roddick if it's over -300.

I think Federer was around -450 last year and destroyed him. Federer has to have a bad day to lose to anyone on grass right now, he is such a monster.

-450 is kind of steep considering #1 vs #2. Given that this is grass but still, Roddick is no chump.

Someone might be able to chime in on what it was last year, I remember it seemed really high. Lots of people were talking about Roddick being a live dog, but after Federer started off slow he just methodically put Roddick away. I have to think it won't be any different this year.

Yeah I pretty much agree with Bill here on Federer beating Roddick ...last year Roddick was leading and then came the rain delay and Federer never looked back. The line was 325-390ish to FedEx and should be close or perhaps lower this time. Not signing off on this prediction though...its great to see some fight/attitude from Roddick this tourney .... as we all know anyone making a prediction at this stage in the tourney is throwing out a guess.... Would be great for US tennis if Roddick could win but Federer is a good guy too....

My Official Pick...Flip a Coin

BTW Bill a cool site I recently found for old odds in tennis is onthepunt.com...

Take Care, G

Roddick struggled with a nobody (Bracciali), and Grosjean, a guy who he was 6-1 life time against, and hadnt lost a set to him the last 5 times they met...I think Federer is too strong right now for Roddick

I would have loved to see Sampras in his prime against Federer on grass.

That would be the match of the century right there. Both have very similiar styles. Pete's serve is slightly stronger while Federer's ground strokes a tad better. It would be awesome.

How about Borg with a modern racket? He was as dominant as Federer on grass until Johnny Mac finally beat him. Maybe the situation is the same to cement his status Roddick is going to have to beat the King on his surface.

Bill...I love your thinkin...this is the stuff that is talked about at the ATP - WTA banquets.....Those were the days....back in the Borg era the grass was 20 % Fescue and the Slazenger balls were opened pre-match....the last 10-12 years the grass-mix has been tampered with (who really knows but the Croquet Club & Tea Drinkers) all the players say court is slower and the balls are dead.

My honest opinion is that Borg would never take a set off FedEx or anyone else....our fitness today far exceeds what was accepted in 1979-80. Smartest player recently was Sampras and the best fit probably Marcello Rios before he got the attitude....gotta put in the work to get paid....just like the real world.
