I know we don't have any consensus of who the top 5 books are....but I think most would agree on 2 or 3 of the top 5.
So....who wants to know your opinion on which of them is most likely to go out of business?

If a book went out of business, it would not be a top 5 book.:monsters-

Who:

Don't expect to see any of the top tier books go out of business anytime soon or in the foreseable future. Perhaps sometime in the distant future, i.e. some years down the line, but not because of a collapse. Perhaps, just to end the business. Similiar to when Bill Scott sold WWTS and retired but kept an interest in the business. As for the second and third tier books and below, that is another story.

You are all very politically skilled. Some of you must get paid directly or indirectly by all of them...
Who is going back to 1st now.....

OK I'll bite...the only semi-realistic way I could conceive of any of them going down is if the reduced juice model proves to not work.

There is a theoretical minimum juice required to stay in business and it is probably less than Pinnacle's current juice but since they have the lowest juice of all shops, their model is an experiment of sorts. So far it seems to be successful but we can't be 100% sure it will continue to be since players are becoming more creative, syndicates are flourishing etc.

Even in the worst case scenario, though, I see them staying in business but maybe increasing their juice a bit in some sports. And stiffing anyone is out of the question. But maybe their boss is hell bent on having the best juice and so if that's impossible to maintain he may pack it in before becoming another plain vanilla shop.

It's a far-fetched scenario but I can't imagine it happening in any other semi-realistic way.

Going down from losing or just going out of business because of an ownership decision? A couple books second priority is winning and some operate in locations that could cause a shutdown.

Do you have ANY idea just exactly how much freakin money this place makes??? To top it off, they are pretty damn sharp in the "risk management" department also.....that keeps them out of my top 5, but they aren't going ANYWHERE (the VIP family is in the same boat).

Oly
Pinny
Cris
Wsex

Those four are also going to be around a long, long time. I'm staying on the fence rather than naming a 5th that ranks with those 4.

imo...........Pinny is the most likely book to...........go out of business.....

at least when it comes to american sports......

they could very easily shift to the european and asian markets eventually.....and leave foots and baskets alone........

as for going belly up......nah none of the top books are in danger or even close...jmo

I'll take BoDog's business model above ANY book out there...including reduced juice.

BoDog is by far the best "business" in the industry. It isn't even close. They have more customers than most of these "top books" that have been around 5-10 years longer. It is truly amazing what they have done and they will not slow down anytime soon.

The only people it pisses off are the players they wouldn't mind chasing off.

Poker will put any book over the top these days if it can get traction. Once these books get a good poker business, the sports side will become far less irrelevant and next to impossible to be the reason a book goes bust.

Honestly the only way books of this caliber go bust is massive internal fraud or US government intervention. Simply losing too much money booking ain't going to happen.
