During an exercise he was visiting our shelter (i was the pa to a two star) and all i can say is that he is a great guy. he was shaking my hand, making some jokes and even during conversations with other ofs he was always kind and smooth. all i can tell you is that he is a great guy and when he was the SACEUR he did a great job for us in the NATO. go and elect him. He knows much more about Europe as he served here for years, much more about foreign policy and much much more about how to treat your counterparts than the oilbaron does.

No question about it andy. The country is fortunate to have a public servant and leader like Clark running for President this year and it would be shame if we missed the opportunity to have his vision and leadership in the WH. His keen awareness of his understanding of the US's role in the world is quite evident, just read his book called 'Winning Modern Wars'. Clark truly is brilliant when it comes to foreign relations. Our country would be in good hands with Clark at the top. People just need to ignore the smears from some who sorked with him that had policy differences and didn't like his ambition and drive. Clark was simply driven to prevent Albanian ethnic cleansing and others like Shelton and Cohen didn't give a damn. I appreciate someone who cares, has principles and is willing to do something about it. WES IN 2004!

andy,

are you from the states or overseas, just curious?

D2, what part of the country are you from?

For the record, my first vote is kerry, second would be clark, and don't think dean can beat bush.

andy, I've heard what you've said from many that have worked with and met Clark. It is only a very few senior people he worked with that had policy disagreements who have smeared him which has unfortunately received too much coverage. Not only that but Milosevic even tried to use Shelton's comments at his trial and Clark had to rebut with a statement by Bill Clinton. Shelton said Clark had "character and integrity issues" without backing it up whatsoever and after saying just opposite when Clark was leaving NATO. It's pretty obvious who really has the character issues between those two.

Andy and D2,

Thanks for responses. I was only in the Marine Corps for 4 years but long enough to know that you can find somebody somewhere to say bad things about anyone who had a command. Just the way it is and as D2 says, I don't think it reflects badly on Clark. For instance Schwarzkopf (sp?) had dust-ups with Powell.

D2, hoepfully I can be more optimistic going forward about Dems chances but it sure looks like dean has early momentum, and if he's the nominee, I think Bush will get re-elected. My hope is that as primary pressures close in, Dean puts his foot in his mouth enough where people give other candidates a shot.
