BOYS I GOT A VERY DISTURBING LETTER YESTERDAY FROM MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY SOMEBODY TRIED TO OPEN A CREDIT CARD WITH MY NAME AND INFORMATION.I HEAR SO MUCH ABOUT THIS IDENTITY FRAUD AND IF SOMEBODY GETS YOUR INFORMATION THEY CAN ROB YOU BLIND.

BOYS HOW CAN I FIND OUT IF SOMEBODY IS STEALING MY IDENTITY I MIGHT BE AN IDIOT BUT I HAVE NEVER CHECKED hno:

Get a copy of your credit report (you can get one a year for free) from your credit bureau(eqifax,experian,transunion, etc whichever). There is an option to stop unsolicited credit offers. Put a block on it where nobody can charge anything without your approval.

It's a site set up by the govt. due to a law that passed a couple of years ago. It's not a company trying to sell you something. No strings attached. I suggest everyone keep track of their credit regularly

Seriously go to your bank in person with identification. Ask them to pull your credit report and look at the last few transactions and see if you were the one doing them. If not you can call the places where accounts were opened and tell them it wasnt you. You can also ask for a hawk alert which means any time an account is going to be opened in your name the company must first speak to you.

Do you get those credit card solicitations in the mail? Lots of times people just dump them automatically in the trash without shredding which means that anyone can just pick up the solicitation and try to open an account in your name. Of course, they have to go through your stinking trash in the first place, but apparently this does happen.

BTJ...With you I never know when you are bull shitting are not. Aside from health, good credit is one of the most important things we as Americans must have. It effects every thing you do when it comes to buying a house, applying for some jobs, interest rates on CC and other loans, buying a car, applyng for an apt, getting a phone and a million other things.

Every time you apply for credit it can effect your score with one of the 3 credit bureaus in an adverse way also..The ratio in debt to income and available credit to actual debt are also vital.

Checking your credit with Transunion, equifax and experian the 3 reporting agencies is a must.

I do it every fucken day on line. Waiting every few months to do it is playing Russian roullette.

It is imperative you sign up with a credit watchdog who will email you any attempted moves on your credit immediately. so as - applications for credit, someone inquiring on your credit etc..

These services generally range from 12.99-39.99 a month.Make sure the service is a watchdog for all 3 bureaus and not just one.

Checking your credit history and movements yourself does not effect your score in any way or manner..

This is a must for everyone..It is important to catch ID thieves immediately before they can do long term damage...

I KNOW THIS CHINESE GUY WHO HAS STOLEN 3 RELATIVES INDENTITIES FOR GAMBLING BUT HOW CAN A CHINESE GUY WHO I GREW UP WITH CASH CHECKS WITH MY NAME.IT LOOKS A LITTLE SUSPECIOUS A CHINAMAN POSING AS BEANTOWNJIM BUT I WOULDNT PUT IT PAST HIM.

HE APPLIED FOR 3 CREDIT CARDS WITH HIS BROTHERS NAME HE EVEN STOLE MONEY FROM HIS OWN FATHER AND THE FAMILY'S HOUSE HAS A LIEN ON IT.HOW DO I APPROACH THIS GUY AND ASK HIM IF HE IS F-CKING AROUND I HAVENT SPOKEN TO HIM IN 3 WEEKS BUT I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS GUY HE IS ALWAYS GETTING OVER HIS HEAD GAMBLING.
