But I decided to share an "edited" version of a post i made in the board room to the guys, because i feel much the same way about the posters on this site....I have had a few disagreements with a few posters, however, overall i have tried to remain fair, honest, trustworthy, and impartial.......I have learned alot from the posters here, and hopefully i have helped to make your experience here better as well...
I would just like to thank everyone back here, especially Ken, for allowing me to be a contributing force to the success of this great site...
I remember when i first started posting here, and after a few months i emailed Peep, and told him i thought it must really be a cool gig to work as a mod here, and get paid to do what u enjoy doing already....
He told me he liked it, and i asked how he came about doing it...To be honest, i dont really remember his reply, but he did mention that i seemed like a knowledgable poster, and wondered if i would be interested in being in the board room....I told him it sounded cool, and within just a few months of signing up i was a board member (I was on the fast track)
So basically i was doing the same thing, just helping out where i could, adding an opinion here or there, but not much changed....then it came time to help with a contest, i dont even remember which one at the time.....i enjoyed doing it, then Madcapper and I took on the task of running a FULL SEASON baseball contest, that we were gonna share the responsibilities.....Well the first cut off and elimination of players was end of June that season, and Madcapper was eliminated, and that added along with his getting married, basically left the entire contest for me to do.....
Then BHB asked me to help with the King of the Hill football contest, and i took it over.....
From then on, its been full speed ahead Baby.........
I must admit, i LOVE doing these contests, and trying to come up with different ideas to keep the posters happy, and the books happy....I try to take on all the work, and so the book basically has to do nothing...I figure if it gets to be WORK for them, they will cut back, so i try not to let that happen....
I think i have come up with some pretty good/different/successful formats for contests, apart from your "basic handicapping" contest...
I love the High/Low NFL contest, that was such a big success, hope to do it again this year, missed it last year....The "gettin to know ya" NBA contest is probably the most successful, and i think in its second year , the "weekend Warrior" ncaa contest, is becoming a favorite too....There have been many smaller contests as well, and at this point, i can honestly say i have probably ran over 25-30 contests in my 2 years in the BR......
But i feel i offer something to the site this way, more so than just moving a thread here or there, u guys are better at that, and seem to catch/find them faster than i do most times......So this way i feel like i am contributing something as well......And if i have to be quite honest about it, i think i do them well, i am proud of the successes....
But most importantly i would like to thank the General, and Ken, for having confidence in me to ask me to be a mod.....To be perfectly honest (i am not a great negotiator here, as you will see), i would have probably kept right on doing what i am doing now even if they werent paying me, cuz i enjoy it...
But low and behold, when Patrick left (he had expressed his opposition to me being a mod ) , Ken and General called and asked if i was interested in being a mod.....I told Ken flat out, i would like to, but i have a full time job, and could only do it, maybe 3-4 hours a day, during week, more on weekends, he didnt hesitate, he said that was fine, do what i could and he would pay me for part time....he gave me a figure and asked if i thought that was fair....? I did, and there we had it....
Now over a year has gone by as a mod, and i still enjoy it, and i think the contests are getting bigger and better, and there is more on the way folks, believe me....I have lots of good ideas, and have already got some books wanting certain contests in their name, next time...LOL
So after all this ranting, i guess what i really wanted to say, was thanks to all of you for letting me a part of this site, contribute what i can, have fun, and be able to earn some extra money out of it as well......It is truly an honor to be able to work with all of you, and i consider each of you very good friends (even dante), and moreso, almost like family......
I especially want to thank Ken, for the opportunity i was given, and the faith he has put in me, to deal with all these books, and to be a representative of the site that he created.....I feel priveledged....
I hope to get 15,000 more in before long....LOL
And now, after all that malarky, mushy crap being said, i've been here over 2 years, when does a brother get a friggin raise......throw a dog a bone will ya......?
Geesh, ya bunch a tightasses.....:heh:
Sincerely though, thanks again for the opportunity to get to 15,000, and hopefully for the opportunity for many more...
If i can ever help anyone with anything, please let me know...
