I'll give you the quick version. About 5 years ago I won some pretty good coin on a game and the win was graded twice to my account. I never said a word thinking that they would catch the error as soon as I made a withdrawl or some kind of transaction. At the time I was getting my brains pounded in what turned out to be a less than profitable season. I waited for a few months and withdrew the $$ little by little and they never caught the error. What would you guys have done and please be honest with your answers because I often think most players would have also kept the money.

I suppose many have taken a shot before. I have and I felt bad too when I looked back. It just takes a little maturity to realize wrong from right.

A few weeks ago, I accidentally played Under53 on Houston@Indy when I meant over. I lost $400.00. I didn't know about it till the 2nd half and couldn't cancel the bet and they wouldn't let me do it anyways. I won't name the book but it's an advertiser here. To say I wanted to commit suicide was an understatement. $400 may not be much for some folks but for me it's a lotto jackpot. Man, I was pissed.

Enough books have screwed enough people out of their money in the past. I am not saying it's the right thing to do, but i would never feel guilty about getting extra money from a sportsbook. personally, i have 2 stories of local books ripping me off.

Don't worry about a thing..i can't count how much money i have been screwed out of by winning in this industry..and the sad thing is i know some of the culprits still work in this industry under an assumed name...take the money an use it to something positive, whether its buying your girl something nice or charity...etc... I will tell u a story that will put it in perspective...

many years ago my grandmother had thought she lost her wedding ring, which was insured by huge nameless insurance company,..after paying 40 years of insurace for this ring, she filed a claim that it was lost and received a large check from the insurance company...several weeks later her housekeeper found the ring and she ultimately returned the money against my father's reccommendation...later that week the actual CEO of the company personally called my grandmother, thanking her for her honesty and in 30 years of his profession said no one had ever done the same and if she ever had a problem or needed something to personally call him....1 year later she received a notice that her insurance premiums had increased..so she calls the CEO asking why an dif she could get ti reduced etc...he basically says sorry and that it was company policy and basically f you...

whats the moral of the story...I have no idea..but take the money cuz if it was the other way around... do u think they would return it to you?

If I were you I would thank my lucky stars and sleep well. Bookmaking is not an honorable profession - they take advantage of the most base of human insincts with one motive in mind. it's not like your shorting a bunch of nuns now is it? However, its obviously bothering you so maybe you could make a donation to some worthy charity this christmas season.

Does it really surprise anyone that Jeffy would advocate larceny? After all, he endorses war crimes on a daily basis.

I'm just telling the truth frenchy. What is the upside to giving a book back money that they dont know is missing? All of us are trying to fast buck it so dont play high and mighty.

Suggestion:

Wager the total amount of money you accidently received; on one game. This is something you wouldn't normally do obviously. If it wins, then you have double your money and tell them of the mistake. You will still come out ahead after giving them their money back.

If the wager loses, the book got their money back.

Morals shouldn't have ifs and buts attached to them but I am ashamed to say mine would. Would never take the money from Pinny or Sky who has serviced me well for many years. However if it was a lesser book that I had had an issue with I would be tempted to call it their bad Karma. Can honestly say my books haven't added up after a busy Sat or Sun when I made maybe 50 bets. With a hangover finding the mistake is not worth it if it is small and and some point I had to get the benifit of a few of those days. Most likely I was just buzzed and failed to write down a bet or play the other side of a middle. No small task to verify 15 accounts and 50+ bets with a throbbing hangover, when I need to be playing that days card...**** happens.

The book got me for about five dimes that weekend even with the money I screwed them out of. If I remember, that is the main reason I never told them. If I was ahead no question in my mind I probably would have given them a call. When you are desperate sometimes you do things you probably should not do. Donating to charity is something I always do this time of year so I guess this year I will be a little more giving and put this to rest. Later.

i got a 1000 line of credit from ESB back in 97, lost it and never paid it back.

They screwed all kinds of people over though, so it never crossed my mind
