No sport is more unpredictable in reading teams from a year to year basis as MLB.

Which teams so far look like they are going to be much better than most expected?

A very obvious one - The Florida Marlins

Baltimore Orioles look very solid on the offensive side, definitely poor in pitching though.

Boston is going to have a poor year IMO

Seattle has surprised many many people!

Also, Washington is a surprise. . .I don't think anybody expected them to be THIS bad!

Yea, and as bad as I hate to say it, Tampa Bay may as well be 2500-1 because it's probably going to look similar to the TB Lightning the year after they wont the Stanley Cup.........^<<^

on the same exact wager. Bedard, and Felix are pretty tough in the AL West

The Marlins looks like the 2008' Rays

Florida off to a great start and taking care of business by mowing down Washington seven out of seven. Now we need to watch them over the next 30+ games.

Baltimore is the team I am most surprised with considering the teams they have beaten. now for teams I think will sustain their early season success are Florida and Seattle.

Have pretty big futures on both. IMO Florida has the best, and deepest staff in the league. 1-5 they are better then everyone. Plus Hanley is only hitting .235. One of the best players in baseball hasn't even began to play like he is capable and they are still 11-1. New York, and Philadelphia better not let this team get too far out or they will run and hide.
I also think Seattle is the team to beat out west. With Anahiem's injury problems to both their pitching staff, and best hitter (vlad) the Mariners need to pad their lead before they all get healthy around mid May, early June. With Felix, and Bedard heading their staff, and Morrow in the back of their pen this team can easily win the West if they get any resemblance of run support.

you also have to remember that this same Washington was picked to be the surprise team by many. So is it Washington isn't as good as some people thought they were going to be, or is Florida just that good? Personally I think it's a little bit of both, with a small lean to Florida being that good. There is no denying their pitchers are top shelf

VD, they're still woefully short on reliable arms.

And I don't see anywhere they've improved offensively

.500 is their fate in a league that's gotten a bit tougher across the board

washington looks like the worst team in mlb...

horrible pitching across-the-board...

which is why i am going to wait...see the marlins play other clubs...

going 6-0 vs the nat's isnt a big deal in my book...

the m's were one of my picks this season...so i agree with you on 'em...

holding a +1250 ticket on seattle to win the west
