I think 3 debates is already fully agreed to and sponsored, I don't think he can back out at this point. 3 seems pretty meager as it is. Should be 5 at least.

The dems thought the same thing in 2000. Gore will tear Bush apart in the debates. Didn't happen. Gore came across as the mean spirited elitist that he is.
The debates will probably seal the deal for Bush. Kerry will be too busy on the defensive about his years in the Senate.
