Angelle, I spent 1967-1976 living in New Orleans, as a Cowboy fan from when I was old enough to remember (early 60's in the losing years). I lived in Metairie back then, near David Drive, where the Saints had their training camp. I didn't give a damn back then, I never went over there and watched them practice, hard to explain why except that I was a Cowboy fan. Abramowicz and Manning and Tom Dempsey, I didn't give a shit, I lived and breathed Staubach and Reeves and Lily and Landry and the rest of them.
But living there, I got this feeling that something was wrong in New Orleans - I could never explain it, but I felt they'd never be a great team. This was 1970 when I first thought that. It's 2003, 33 years later, and I'm still waiting for this team to make the Super Bowl. I seriously think they never will - it's sad and weird, like the Cubs being out of the WS since 1945 and the Red Sox on permanent hiatus, but for crying out loud, one had to ask, WHAT THE F-U-C-K IS WRONG with this team's management???
On the bright side, I've got a 65" widescreen high-def TV and the picture was great, though not high-def, and they looked fine in their white road uniforms. But, they lost, a refrain too often moaned in NO, and if they were smart they'd look to change owners, change coaches, change their ****ing UNDERWEAR, anything to purge their history.
Also on the bright side, one game a season does not make. I'd look for NO to cover the next game - they are vicious punks in that regard.
