Bush: Massive Deportation Not Realistic

AP - 1 hour, 16 minutes ago <!--summary-->IRVINE, Calif. - President Bush, rebutting lawmakers advocating a law-and-order approach to immigration, said Monday that those who are calling for massive deportation of the estimated 11 million foreigners living illegally in the United States are not being realistic. <!--/summary-->"Massive deportation of the people here is not going to work," Bush said as a Congress divided over immigration returned from a two-week recess. "It's just not going to work."

It won't work because they won't try. Can't get ice or trailers to dispossessed folks in Louisiana how could this government handle this job. Bush's answer "why try"?

if there was a way to grant amnesty to the ones that are here for hard work and live an honest life and export the criminals you would have a very strong economy and backbone of a labor workforce. the key is how do you do this

Very disappointing I must admit.

Do you want them booted Gin?

GOP would not stand behind him if he pushed but I dont think he wants to deport them anyway. Now Im just pulling for no amnesty.

Well, I guess now "the base" has no reason to show up this fall.

Somehow I doubt JR wants them booted. He'd probably be screaming for their "civil liberties" if the GOP tried.

Yes, boot them. Difficult to do but not impossible.
Makes a mockery of the legal immigration process.
Any one in the country less than 5 years and no documentation (a whole new industry will spring from that) gets shipped home.

I wonder if Panda has visited former totalitarian strongholds (any former members of the Soviet Satellite states, would suffice). I wonder how the people in those countries would take to some of her comments in this thread. Panda, I don't think you have a clue the hardship 'containment' brought on the Iraqi people, the region and the world community, nor the cost of keeping such a tyrant in his UN playpen. From your simplistic perch of moral self righteousness, war it always the choice between "all good" and "all bad." Another modern pacifist who devotes most of the her energy against America, rather than the forces of evil that propel them into action.

Newsflash: Saddam invaded Kuwait. He should have been behind bars hours after his Republican guard stormed into another sovereign country. End of story.

I don’t quite understand, Panda. On one hand she claims, she isn’t a nationalist (‘statist’), but then she says,

"I would expect and hope that Canadians would sign up in droves to defend their country. I would use my balcony for sniper shots, for example."

Oh, my! If Canada were attacked? What happened to your "anti-statist" rants?

There is something very inconsistent and opportunistic about Panda’s argument. Either you are a 'statist' or not. If you are not a 'statist' and your "anti-war" motive is derived from the fact there is too much human suffering and bloodshed in this world, then you should be banging on about more military intervention, not less -- no matter who is on the front lines. More often than not, military intervention becomes the most humane course of all actions. (Saddam killed over 1 million -- just one example.)

If you are a 'statist' then accept the fact America was attacked and has every right to defend herself against nation states who practice terror with it's enemies. Saddam's intel officers tried to assasinate a former Commander in Chief (if this isn't an act of war, what is?), and had numerous dealings with those enemies who attacked America, not only on 9/11, but various attacks the 90s. If that isn't reason for alarm, please tell me what is?

Actually, it doesn't matter. In both cases, you're wrong.

JR, I don't proofread posts addressed to Turd Spammy. I probably meant 'irrespective.' Blow me.

If your interested in checking the chronology of these exchanges this is the thread that JoCo incited my reaction in. Then as he often does proceeds, in this thread, to tell me what I think.
If moderators ever hope to contain these flame wars in the Pol forum you better start paying attention to who starts the shit.
I for one am not going to sit back and let some asshole sling shit at me and not retaliate, those days are over. From now on when you delete something I post you may want to find out if there was cause for what I said. I've never been in the habit of being the first flamer in a thread but, once again, I'm not going to passively take it.

Don't mind me, I'm bumping every thread to the top until all of doc mercer's bullshit is off page one. I will continue to do this at every opportunity until something is done about him, and I encourage everyone else who is tired of his shit to do the same.

Bump - Get rid of them through attrition - this is a stupid argument to deter the real facts - illegals are taking jobs from real Americans - just pay a few more dollars!
