Human Shields : The TRUTH "Saddam was a monster"

Search
(UPI)-- A group of American anti-war demonstrators who came to Iraq with Japanese human shield volunteers made it across the border today [story filed 21 March] with 14 hours of uncensored video, all shot without Iraqi government minders present. Kenneth Joseph, a young American pastor with the Assyrian Church of the East, told UPI the trip "had shocked me back to reality." Some of the Iraqis he interviewed on camera "told me they would commit suicide if American bombing didn't start. They were willing to see their homes demolished to gain their freedom from Saddam's bloody tyranny. They convinced me that Saddam was a monster the likes of which the world had not seen since Stalin and Hitler. He and his sons are sick sadists. Their tales of slow torture and killing made me ill, such as people put in a huge shredder for plastic products, feet first so they could hear their screams as bodies got chewed up from foot to head."

A young American photographer, Daniel Pepper, has a first-person piece in the Telegraph (23 March) about his experiences as a human shield. Headlined "I was a naive fool to be a human shield for Saddam", Pepper talks about his first experience with an anti-Saddam Iraqi, a taxi driver, who took him to task for opposing the war:
As he realised I was serious, he slowed down and started to speak in broken English about the evils of Saddam's regime. Until then I had only heard the President spoken of with respect, but now this guy was telling me how all of Iraq's oil money went into Saddam's pocket and that if you opposed him politically he would kill your whole family.

It scared the hell out of me. First I was thinking that maybe it was the secret police trying to trick me but later I got the impression that he wanted me to help him escape. I felt so bad. I told him: "Listen, I am just a schmuck from the United States, I am not with the UN, I'm not with the CIA - I just can't help you."

Of course I had read reports that Iraqis hated Saddam Hussein, but this was the real thing. Someone had explained it to me face to face. I told a few journalists who I knew. They said that this sort of thing often happened - spontaneous, emotional, and secretive outbursts imploring visitors to free them from Saddam's tyrannical Iraq.

Frank,
In fairness, I don't think anyone here is or claims to be pro-Saddam. Anti-war and Pro-Saddam are NOT synonymous.

Many are standing against our President therefore hurting our troops therefore helping Saddam.

Anyone with half a brain knows Iraq cannot win this militarily. Saddam knows his only chance is to drag this out and kill US soldiers, claim civilian casualities (which he really doesn't give a shit) and hope the leftest media can convince enough Americans the US should pull out. So continue your support for Saddam, Lander.

Maybe not PRO-Saddam but certainly more sympathetic to his "cause" than ours.

I think that is evident when people cite the Iraqi Information Ministry as their argument's source and are more eager to accept their propaganda as fact when it conflicts with an allied report of events.

These are the people that stated that Americans are cannibals who come to eat the Iraqi people and not in a metaphorical sense. I don't know about anyone else but I don't see any cannibals around here. Seriously, I'm looking out the window now...not a cannibal in sight.

FF or Jazz,
Can one of you dig up some old quotes from Saddam TV after Gulf 1? It would be interesting to see how Iraq won Gulf 1.

No, Frank I don't want any war (not even a slow war). No War does NOT equate to slow war. They are complete opposites, but that wouldn't fit your agenda, would it?
Nowhere have I EVEN SUGGESTED THIS.
Get the facts straight - while you're at it get some facts to support this unjust war.

Got spine?
Razz, do you? I haven't heard anything about your division .. oh, that's right ... you're not fighting, you're just cheerleading like #1. Hike up you skirt, maybe the boys will like you when they come home.

>No, Frank I don't want any war

Damn man! But there *IS* a war!! You cannot wish it away.

Oh, that's right...your boy Saddam hasn't been seen live since that first missle attack was sent flying up your collective skirts.

Which is Frank, am I "wishing it away" or do I "want to slow down the war"? Frank, before you wrongly post my views I suggest you incorrectly pick one & stick with it.

"Hey Frenchie, if they're fighting under a coalition flag then they are MY division"

No they are just American soldiers, not your American soldiers. If you really want them to be "your division" you'll need to enlist. Otherwise, you're *still* just a cheerleader.

>Which is Frank

Cannot tell from your posts cause you morph too much and when refuted you just stop answering.

I know the reason behind your posts: You just hate Bush.

Ok, the war is on going so what do you want your anti-war protest to achieve NOW? Please answer.

They are MY division, sadly even YOUR division. They are OUR troops, however you want to put it. Our brothers, fathers sisters and mothers. Supporting them in times of war is called patriotism...look it up. If you want to call support for my, (yes MY), troops and country, cheerleading...then RAH..RAH..SIS-BOOM-BOMB baby!

Frank,
Unlike you I try to answer EVERY argument.
You spin off on a tangent (much like you did in this thread) everytime a VALID argument is made against you.

"Ok, the war is on going so what do you want your anti-war protest to achieve NOW?"
First, I haven't protested (so, again you are very wrong).

But, I believe the protesters serve a few important purposes. -
1. They create awareness that there is a VERY LARGE movement against this war.
2. They put pressure on Bush to provide the facts used to justify HIS war (and so far he's only provide forged documents - very much like the Watergate scandal).
3. They create aweness that dissent is NOT anti-American or unpatriotic. No war = no casualties - THAT IS SUPPORT.
4. They will continue to create a stir about the fabricated documents that may possibly lead to Bush & others' impeachments.
5. In true American spirit they stand up against the gov't for what they believe in. Had the Germans - who knows?

Your turn Frank.
Why would Bush present forged documents of evidence to the UN and the American Public as facts, if he indeed had facts "justifying" this war?

Razz,
If you have something containing facts and civilness please present it in a seperate thread entitled "stupid shit for Lander to address". Until then quit destroying everyone's threads with your childish name-calling.

Now your assignment is to find out who financed the largest organized protests.

"Now your assignment is to find out who financed the largest organized protests"

Sure thing, & your assignment is to find out who forged the documents & determine why Bush presented the forgeries to the UN and American Public as facts even after CIA director George Tenet advised against doing such (citing uncertainties of their validity).

>Why would Bush present forged documents of evidence to the UN

He didnt know they were forged is my answer can you PROVE otherwise?
