Can't believe I just came across this thread...
The minute I read the Lancet study about cardiovascular risk I knew it was bullshit. They used the side effect "QT prolongation" as the SCARY reason why it may cause heart attacks, heart failure etc. Every doctor in America, and possibly the world knew this was bullshit, and they still published it. Why?
QTC is the time interval between heartbeats...usually about 430-450 milliseconds depending on the sex of the person.
The QT prolongation of HydroxyQ is about 4ms...a NEGLIGIBLE number by ANY stretch.
I used to rep a drug that had a 6 ms prolongation, and we competed against several that had up to 25ms (look up Biaxin, same class and competitor to Zpak).
The LANCET article was dogshit, and set us back several months for endpoint data of HCQ and zpak.
As far as the Henry Ford study, it is a sound study. The protocols are the same and all within the same hospital system.
