How would you handle

In August I placed a large wager with my local. Bet on Tampa Bay OVER 7.5 wins. Yesterday they reached their 8th obviously.

Back at the beginning of November I met with my local and he paid me winnings for the week. We had settled up several times this year with me collecting each time. He said at the end "I'm going to be shutting this down". He said it wasn't a profitable relationship to take my bets anymore.

I remembered last night that I had this futures bet with him. I text him about it and of course, no response. I have a problem with this because of course if they didn't win 8, he could check in with me and my only option would be to pay him.

How would you handle it? I am more angry about him not being willing to answer and outright stiffing (something that he said he always hated) more than the money. If I could at least have a conversation with him about it, I would not be as angered. In the end it seems, he's everything he supposedly hated.

Looks like it's time to find a new bookie. Not much you can say if he won't respond to your texts/calls.

Seen this happen both ways before...

Sucks though. Hopefully, you'll get your $.

Keep politely texting him so that he realizes you are not just "going away".

He doesnt have to pay up on that Tampa bet until the reg season is over Jan 1. Hopefully when he settles up with other clients during bowl season, he'll have enough to pay you.

Go to where he hangs out with his cronies. Tell him you need to talk in front of them. He will not want it getting out that he is a stiff

Sounds like it's time to run up in his spot and take care of business,

That is true they don't have to pay until the regular season is complete, like someone else said

I dunno, it depends upon what kind of man he is... this could escalate things and backfire in several different possible ways

At some point you have to realize getting anything out of this deal may be better than nothing.

and if its less than 500$, really stressing over it isnt worth it.. consider him out of your life for xx amount of money is worth it!!!

Agree with the above. Take the settlement and move on. If you're only willing to play on credit going forward, seek an agent of one of the top offshores. GL

He agreed to settle at half the amount and was mad I called
lmao and you let that slide? He booked the bet he has to pay it. Try telling him your only gonna pay half after losing 10k and that you're mad that he called you.

He was angry that I didn't mention the futures bet when he "closed me out" when Tampa was 3-5

It's a future bet for a reason. Didn't know you had to bring it to discussion every week. That sucks
