Gunmen slay governor of Baghdad region

BAGHDAD (AP) — Insurgents assassinated the highest-ranking Iraqi official in eight months Tuesday, gunning down the governor of Baghdad province and six of his bodyguards, and a suicide truck bomber killed 10 people at an Interior Ministry commando headquarters, the latest in a string of violence ahead of Jan. 30 elections.

The same way they did in Germany, I'd imagine. The PC tactics are surely harming the efforts.

Trust me Jinn we are way to nice to the people in Iraq that oppose us. It would be best to level entire areas when need be instead of one Marine being killed.

Christ man we want Democratic elections. How much legitimacy is there if you level cities and kill innocents just so you can vote in YOUR candidates.

They should install pro American candidates about #5 down the line of succession. They will murder the first four and probably think the fifth is a stand up guy.

He's on permanent vacation from his Iraq duties. At least he has the sense to know a losing situation when he sees one.

"How will they protect those elected?"

They won't unless the elected are in some underground bunker type setting....

Who cares what the job pays or the status, dead people don't get to spend any money.....

This is going to be an especially bloody time.....I seriously doubt that whoever survives long enough to get elected will live to see the end of the year....

Mafia people have longer lifespans than these guys will have.
