Total COVID relief bill so far: are they nuts???
I've just looked at the total costs of Canada's Economic Response Plan on https://www.canada.ca/en/department-...covid-19.html: it is $587 Billion dollars. The Canada's GDP in 2019 was $1384 Billions, I.e., so far the government plans to spend 42% of the annual GDP!!! This is GDP we are talking about, not the budget!!! The total tax revenue in 2018 was only $281 Billion. I.e., the government already spent tax revenue for 2 years just for emergency response and we are not done yet. How the hell they plan to pay for it? It is impossible to do it with any feasible tax increase. This is definitely much scarier than the virus itself.
"How the hell they plan to pay for it?
Start creating (printing) USD out of thin air like Trump does ;
Make single event sports gambling legal & tax it?
Set up Vegas type casinos all over Canada for betting on sports, horse racing, etc?
Sell the Yukon & NWT to the highest bidder (China or North Korea or Trump?) for 100 Trillion dollars?
Get a loan from RBC?
