That fucking asshole Tom Cable was trying to fuck the spread. 10 seconds left and he goes for a FG while down by 11 on a 2nd down nonetheless.
Thank god Janikowski missed as I thought I was fucked for a second there.

tjhat was so fucking shady, I've never seen a team do that. Your down by a touchdown plus and isntead of trying to get a TD you go for a Field goal on first down.
I thought it was payback for me hitting that Hail Mary by Drew Brees to cover the over on the Saints game.

Um, you guys know that's a textbook play, right? You kick the field goal first, try for the onside and get 1 hail mary pass off. You don't go for the touchdown first. Had nothing to do with the spread.

What I don't understand is why coaches (especially those with medocre offenses) don't do that more often when they're down down by 9, 10 or 11 points in FG range with time running out. How many times have you seen a team at the opponent's 30 or 35 yard line burning clock and wasting downs trying to get a touchdown? They still need to get the onside kick. So why not get the 3 (theoretically easy points) and leave some time on the board so if you do get possession you have some time to get the touchdown?.

I understand that it's easier to get to field goal range rather than in the endzone but if you're blowing time trying to get the bulk (7 or 8) points and only leaving yourself with a few seconds to get a field goal, what's it worth?

It's a pay me now or later type scenario.. I'd rather not waste time and offense energy when I can get 1 one my scores quickly.

Remember I still need a low %age onside kick.

Lucky it hit cross bar made you, me and everyone who fade them rejoiced. but you can not blame the HC for kicking a FG. How long have you been watching football? Down by 11 pts, need 2 possessions with only 9 seconds left in the game.Do you think how many second left if he decided go for TD? NONE. Technically, 3 pts GF w/ no clock running could help them have a CHANCE to get a ball back with fumble recovery in Carolina zone(Onside kick won't have a chance). It might need a miracal but it the way it should be.
