quote:
I swear, I'm at the point where people ask about "bonuses" and I immediately dislike/don't trust them. Am I the only one? I can just imagine how the books must feel about these type.

whats wrong with a 10% bonus...books in Vegas have drinks aswell as more staff & rent/lighting/buildings to pay for...Offshore books need only an internet server...why not pass on some of these savings in the form of a bonus to customers?

I see nothing wrong with offering a bonus to a loyal cx from time to time...& I am a REAL handicapper....

Kev:

I did see that number. But I am scared off that they do not have a toll free number. I just find it odd that they can be rated so high but do not really have any way of getting reached other than email.

vegas- They do have a toll free number but if I list it here which I would love to do it will be quickly deleted by the soup nazis.

Pinnacle doesn't want their toll free number listed and people censoring this site bow down to anything Pinnacle wants because they're scared to death that they may pull their advertising.

Soccerbob - For someone as intelligent as yourself, that was a pretty dumb comment. Let me ask you a question. What would you do if you had a client in any business, and he asked you to do something as simple as not advertising their phone number, why would'nt you follow their wishes? Any customer at Pinnacle is free to call them anytime they want, you simply have to ask for their toll free number by EM. as you well know. As far as "scared to death" goes, rest assured that is not the case with the moderators here, no matter what you may think.

Pinnacle is great except for the fact that they are sharp and they will beat the pants off you. But at least you are losing your money at reduced juice.

If they are so sharp is it not possible to try to predict the correct side by the way they have their lines posted:

Example...Say Team A is -7-110 solid among 95% of Books...

Now Say Pinnacle has team A -112 & team B +102...They are charging people more money to play on team A so would this not mean that they think team B is the correct side? or do they have enough squares knowing they will lay @ the -112...or are they trying to draw you into the +102...thinking you are getting a great deal with the extra money?

I dont know anymore, I am confused!!!!

wil- Well said. You just showed again why it was a wise choice making you a moderator. I fully realize my opinions on things gets me in a bit of hot water at times but that's just how I am. I say what I feel and speak what's on my mind. Yourself and the other moderators on here do a fantastic job. The RX is by far the best gaming forum on internet. I have learned so much about wagering and about life in general since I have been a part of this wonderful forum.

I just want to say "Thank You" to everyone that contributes here and tolerates me being a horse's ass at times and a bit brash. I love this forum.

This place will continue to do well under the leadership of men like General and Fishhead. Wil is newer but also seems to have a good concept of what the job entails, good work guys. Strong people like these make for a strong site.

SS - There are plenty of people who do just that. You can sometime use their lines, or should I say leans, to make a play at another book with non-biased opinions on particular games. Success will vary according to the sport involved. IMO. hockey is not worth the effort, but college hoops may be another matter. Perhaps some other posters with more experience with this strategy will add some input.

wil in the example above do you think their lean is team A-112 or Team B +102?

Soccer Bob - Thanks for the kind words, let me say that your presense, and most importantly long experience in the gambling world is very much appreciated. I for one never miss anything you post. Thanks again. wil.

SS. In your example a 7 cent lean would not cause me to go out looking to lay -110. One thing you have to remember is their reduced juice. I look for something like -7 -116 take back +106. A line like this tells me they are begging me to bet the dog at plus 106, and if I believe their numbers are sharper than consensus numbers, I would then look elsewhere to bet the favorite at the best price I can find.

Thanks Bob, enjoyed my stay here. Lot of fun! Anyway like others I always enjoyed your style, you don't pull any punches. Too much gray in the world already, refreshing when someone speaks out for what they believe in rather than being another forum kissass!

Like anything else in handicapping, watching Pinnacle's lines is only a part of the process. They book a lot of large action so there may be times that they put up +7 +106 just because they have unbalanced action and they want it evened out. It may have nothing to so with which side of the game they are on.

Also, always remember that large action is square action more often than not.

Nick - very good point, I like to copy to word-pad, or print out, their openers for comparision later. A lot of the time this will tell what games they are shading, and what games saw a lot of money bet on a particular side. The whole process can be a quessing game at times, and a sharp player needs to develop a kind knack for sniffing out the real leans. If that makes sense.

come on people cut all that even action crap out...books want to be on the winning side...if they know they got a 60%+ chance of winning a side why would they want even action?
