I used to always pickup lunch with someone at work (when I was in college) and he would always tip the cashier a few bucks. My gf refuses to tip someone if they aren't our waiter/server/etc.

I sometimes drop a few bucks when I take out from a place like CPK, but I don't think I've ever tipped when ordering some carryout pizza.

i mentioned this in another thread... i worked the to-go counter at a pizza/italian place for a few years and most of the time received $1-5 each transaction. on big orders, $100 or more, some people would tip around $10.

many i could tell just wanted to help me out, probably could tell i was a college student. having gone through this, i always leave $2-4 when picking up lunch somewhere.

$2-4, hell my lunch doesn't cost 6 bucks. Do you tip at the drive thru at Taco Bell or wherever you go?

2-3..I will give eye contact when I walk in..If they avoid eye contact and lack of a hello..maybe a dollar least

places I go to all the time already expect this unfortunately..sometimes I wonder if they take it for granted..

I personally know ex MLB utility inf Orlando Palmeiro`s wife..This woman is the nicest , sincerest thing on the planet..I always see her drop a 5 everywhere she goes..and nobody has a clue who she is because she remains anonymous..Orlando is a great guy too..and they have a beautiful 2.5 year old baby daughter too..

I always tell her Orlando put fear in my heart whenever he would PH late in a game against me..He just retired this year..was quite a journeyman and great pinch hitter and utility player-THE Menace

$0 and anyone who does anything else is a sucker

you're already paying inflated sit-down restaurant prices for the food... absolute scam if they expect you to tip on top of that.

The counter, NOTHING. If they are not providing a service above and beyond handing you the order and taking your money (i.e. curb side service), than a simple "thanks" should suffice. Don't they pay these people minimum wage?

This country has gotten completely out of hand when it comes to tipping.

I entertain Drs offices with lunches and pick up food from restaurants.

Usually the girl or the guy (queer usually) has to bag up the food and bring it out...gets me paper goods etc...I will tip them 10% - 20 % depending on how good looking the girl is. I even tip the cornholers a small amount.

0%... Fawk tipping carry out.

Do you tip at Burger King, Mckd's and 7-11 when you get a big bite?

If I wanna tip someone it will be b/c they brought the food to my house... b/c I am a lazy fawk.

If I'm picking up a pizza or carryout at the restaurant, I don't tip. It's getting out of hand as there are tip jars at Dairy Queen, Starbucks, Subway, etc... If you have food delivered to your house, then you should tip.

My assistant use to work in the restaurant industry for years - $20/plate type places. He said (yeah it's a he because I need shit DONE and not a crybaby when I chew him out) that you never tip for carryout. He routinely picks us up $10 sammies at nice restaurants and never tips - even said it was understood.

Now if some skinny, broke looking college dude or chick gives me puppy dog eyes like they can't believe I'm not tipping them then I'll leave 2 or 3 bucks. I think one buck is stupid - it's like saying "here shutup". 2 or 3 is like a reality check - yeah i can spare it.

the employees don't see a dime of that "inflated sit-down price." you're not tipping the owners when you go to these places... its the college kid, high school drop out who will work there for the rest of his/her life, or the uneducated people who can't work anywhere else.

they probably need it more than you do, whats an extra few bucks to you?

extra few bucks is alot to alot of people these days. i never understood why people would go out of there way and throw out big tips at people, just to make other people think they are good tippers. its like i have to reaffirm my status as a big tipper by giving out 50-75 percent tips, like im somebody.

Nothing, they are getting paid to do a job. Why should I tip them on top of that. It's totally different from waiters where the expect tips and they are paid less in salary because of it.
