the Clintons, how about the hollywood whack jobs, the NY times, the Dixie Chicks, Saudia Arabia, Kuwaitis, China, The French donated towards the Asia tsunami.

It's WRONG that US taxpayers are getting roped into footing the majority of the bill.

There you have it. I'm no parrot and I firmly believe the con game is on.

Watch and see the needy will only see 1 in every 4 dollars that is transferred in cash.

I haven't seen one story on how much CHINA is going to donate with their booming econmy and all.

How about the Saudis? How about George Soros?

As of yesterday, the Saudis were donating $10M USD.

To date, the US isn't 'footing the majority of the bill' if you look at it in per capita terms. Per capita, the Norwegians and the Qatar-ians (?) are giving the most, I believe. So far, anyway.

XP,

That's plain silly nonsense. Figure in our private companies, individuals and US charities and it simply is not a comparison as I'm sure you know. Please don't spin for once. Thanks.

You asked how much Saudi Arabia and China were donating ... neither of them are private companies or individuals. Corporate donations may well be multinational, btw.

I don't understand what your problem is. If WalMart donates scads of money, it has nothing whatsoever to do with you or your country. It's WalMart. Just like my donation has nothing to do with my country ... though Martin did promise to match private contributions dollar for dollar.

Anyway, try separating public from private contributions if you want to argue with me. What the private sphere does has little to do with this forum.

Though, since you're asking, has Bush donated personally? Cheney? Etc.?

Did CHINA step up?
I don't know. And if China's not helping (and it seems that I heard in passing they weren't) that's absolutely pathetic. If this is your way, however, of formulating an excuse to not help, that's also pathetic.

What exactly is your problem with helping? Why are you so totally bent out of shape over this? Would you sleep better knowing your gov't gave nothing? Is that it?

i'm way more concerned about how much will ACTUALLY go to the victim's, and how much Kofi, Kojo, and Co will keep for themselves.

XP,

Americans give to private charities. American taxpayers really have no business being forced to pay a dime.

xpanda......Bush and Cheney are currently occupied with thier quest for some easy dollars via war profiteering.....thinking that they would donate to this cause would be implying that they actually have hearts.....

Don't expect them to donate anything anytime soon, if they do you can be assured that it's because they are planning on another windfall that gouges the American public like this war has....
