I competed internationally in 2 sports until I was 18 years old and had my country provide me with me free trainers, massage therapists, chiros and and basically any sort of medical edge and never thought much of them until I was off the countries dime. Once I made an attempt at going pro and it was on me the wear and tear on my body was brutal and I was grateful for these services as often as I could afford them just to keep me going. My elite level sports day are well behind me and these days I'm just a gym rat, lift big, lift often and when you do that your body gets thrown out of alignment pretty often. I see it in others too, people walking with fucked up gaits, poor posture and they've learned to adapt to being uncomfortable cause they've been that way for so long they forgot what it feels like to be truly healthy, or they've accepted little aches and pains or worse thinking it's the price of growing older when a lot of times it's just a fix that needs to be worked out. I wouldn't go to a pure chiro, tho they can help but there are many providers out there who have multiple specialties and I feel chiro in conjunction with other help is optimal , the guy I go to is a chiro but also underwent training in active release therapy and graston and he incorporates all of them into his sessions as needed. I started with him a year and a half ago when I had a hamstring tightness that nobody could solve, I went to 4 different physio therapists, I went to doctors, nerve specialists, ortho specialists, had mris cats xrays done nobody could find out why I was in constant pain. This chiro/art practitioner beat the fuck out of my hammy, brutal busting up of scar tissue, lots of manipulation of lower back tightness and it took about 3 months before I was pain free but I could feel progress when he worked. I now go every 2 weeks to keep myself working at optimal. There are a lot of quacks out there but find a good one who knows what he's doing and this stuff can significantly increase the quality of your life.
