Heard that gamblers are one of the largest groups of alcoholics and recovering alcoholics.

Anybody else ever heard anything similar?

As someone whose life was saved 14 years ago thanks to the fellowships of NA and AA, I'll respectfully respond that your perhaps well-intentioned question is highly intrusive.

Anyone actively involved in 12 step recovery of any kind is likely very uninterested in sharing that info publicly in a high traffic internet forum.

Accordingly, I'm dumping this Thread into the Rubber Room. If I'm mistaken and someone active in 12step wants to share that, they can do it there.

It wasn't a slap in the face Barman. I hope you didn't take it that way. I think anyone who faces their demons should be applauded.

I didn't mean to imply your question was a "slap" to me or anyone else. I'm sure it was simply a sincere inquiry.

However, I personally find the answer to that question to be none of your business unless the person(s) involved wish to volunteer that information

And that is not meant as a "slap" to you either. Just a firm point of order from my humble seat over here.

Success in 12 step recovery has a lot to do with overall anonymity for those involved, thus my admittedly stern response to you.

its a question though, so people can choose to answer it or not. If people were offended or didnt think this was the place, nobody is forcing them to spill their guts.

i really wouldnt say I have a problem with drinking, as I can go forever without drinking if I want to, its more so knowing my limits if I choose to drink, and the stupid shit that I say or do, that follows. Ive thought about going before, but have neither bothered into looking at it.

Exactly. Seems a bit trigger-happy to immediately dump this into
the rubber room.

Is it bad that I haven't drank 2 of the last 4 days and feel good about that?

It's rarely bad to feel honestly good.

In fact, I recommend it as a way of life
