The American Military Industrial Complex is a corporatist, corrupt, mass scam fueled by bullshît patriotism rammed down your throats. Whether a dem or a republican is in power is irrelevant ... the whole lot of 'em are corrupt.

To be fair, it's not strictly an American problem (just a thousandfold worse) ... see Lockheed Martin and the brand-spanking new contract the Italian and British divisions were 'awarded' last month.

So tell me Pepper...what is so corrupt about that contract? That was for the new Presidential helicopter. Please detail the corruption involved.

You don't seriously believe that Italian and British participation in Iraq had nothing whatsoever to do with their being awarded this contract? Berlusconi himself lobbied the Pentagon on behalf of Lockheed.

It's too bad these metaphorical blowjobs don't mean as much to you people ...

So what? That makes it corrupt? Did you ever put a job out for quote before? If a friend of yours recommends Company A over Company B does that mean it's corrupt? If you have some goods to sell Company A as a quid pro quo does that mean it's corrupt? Maybe it's just a good business decision. You make the Lockheed deal sound like some Swiss bank accounts were funded.

Bush: "So I hear you got a hardon for Lockheed, there, Berly. You know, I got a bit of a hardon for Saddam .... wink wink."

Berlusconi: "Gee, Mr. President, my populace is 85% against going to war in Iraq -- with all the potential dead people and such -- so maybe you know somebody who knows somebody who can pull a few short and curlies for me?"

Blair: "Uh, Mr. President ... short and curlies for me, too, please!"

Bush: *Plink!*

_____________

What's your definition of corruption, Send? If Berlusconi had given Bush $$ under that table, would that qualify? If so, why in the hell does committing billions of taxpayer dollars/euros/sterling to a dodgy war that they oppose en masse any f'n different?

The Carlyle group is the scam of the 21st century.
http://www.hereinreality.com/carlyle.html

-----------------------------------
Carlyle buys some firm and (woopee doopee doo!) Lockheed just happen to fúcking buy it off them a year or two later.
http://washington.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2004/11/29/daily28.html

Yup that sure was lucky huh.
-----------------------------------

The UK government just happen to sell a third of the MOD defence research arm to.....Carlyle.
Well fúcking hell, that sure was lucky for them.

John Major became head of euro operations the year before the MOD sellout, man...talk about coincidence.

We've been in Iraq for a while now.....you think during the war planning for Iraq we were offering the helicopter to lure the Italians and British in? That was some pretty good planning years ago for the contract that was just approved.

The engines are being made just north of me in Massachusetts. Did Bush make a deal with Kerry to lose the election in exchange for the engines?

90% of the value of the contract is being awarded to US firms and involves 41 states. They must all be red states....oops Mass and NY are two of them!!

I have no problem with Italy/Britain getting a piece of the action. Quite possibly part of the decision WAS made for their help with the war, though I don't think this was THE reason for them helping in Iraq. Again where's the corruption charge? You guys go WAY OVER THE TOP with these accusations and have ZERO evidence to back them up.

The entire Carlyle group should be investigated. Pronto.

"In 1993, Mr. Corcoran became President of Martin Marietta Corporation's Electronics Group when General Electric sold its aerospace business to Martin Marietta. Lockheed Martin named Mr. Corcoran President and Chief Operating Officer, electronics sector, upon the merger of Lockheed and Martin Marietta in 1995. Under his leadership, the electronics business grew from $3.5 billion to $8 billion in annual revenues, while expanding profit margins, and blending successfully the cultures of 18 separate business units. In October 1998, as a result of his success in the electronics sector, Mr. Corcoran was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of the space and strategic missiles sector for Lockheed Martin Corporation, where he initiated a business turnaround. In September 1999 he was appointed President and CEO of Allegheny Teledyne, where he implemented the spin off to three separate public companies and improved earnings performance."

Guess where he is now?
Go on. Have a guess.

Ooh look!

"Mr. Corcoran is a member on the Boards of Directors of Gemini Air Cargo, Inc., L-3 Communications Corporation, REMEC, Inc., Sippican, Inc., "

Is that not the Sippican that Lockheed bought!

Gawsh, wasn't that lucky!
