I'm not trying to stir things up. I think they're a decent resource who do a lot of good advocating for players. Some of their ratings are pretty far out-of-whack with my experience (WWTS and VIP are not equal to Pinnacle in my world) but I imagine their ratings are a reasonable guideline for recreational players.

But I've been inside this industry for awhile and I've never learned exactly how they are funded. Specifics would be appreciated. I know they are funded by the books but is it directly related to referrals through the click-trackers or what?

Groucho,

I like their site and its main man, John. They do accept Ad revenue in a creative sort of way. Perhaps someone from their biz can comment if they decide to...

It's a fair question...

I certainly don't want this thread to end up in flames, so let's be nice...

Thanks,

Scroll down the list, and you'll see:

<TABLE class=table cellSpacing=3 cellPadding=1 width="100%" border=0 x:str><TBODY><TR><TD width=282>Ladbrokes</TD><TD width=304>A+</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
<TABLE class=table cellSpacing=3 cellPadding=1 width="100%" border=0 x:str><TBODY><TR><TD width=282>Grande</TD><TD width=304>A-</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

and you will see in BOLD font:

<TABLE class=table cellSpacing=3 cellPadding=1 width="100%" border=0 x:str><TBODY><TR><TD width=282>Jazz Sports</TD><TD width=304>B+</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
<TABLE class=table cellSpacing=3 cellPadding=1 width="100%" border=0 x:str><TBODY><TR><TD width=282>BetJamaica</TD><TD width=304>A+</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

The little touch with the bold font says it all. An A+ book is NOT bold, but a B+ book is.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

SBR is a TREMENDOUS asset to the offshore industry.

Although not perfect(nobody is) or I may not personally agree 100% with their ratings, they do an outstanding job.

In SBR terms, I rate them a B+

SBR is and has been a tremendous tool for me and many others. There is nothing wrong with taking Ad revenue - VIP isn't as good as pinnacle but both at safe, quality shops.

I agree.

I was simply referring to the "funding" part of it.

I never use a book without using the RX and SBR first. NEVER.

I'm going to give this a bump just in case there is any more info out there.

That is a good point which is raised about certain books having their ratings in bold.

It seems reasonable to conclude that the ones with the bold ratings are paying the most. I still wonder if they pay a fixed amount or it is directly related to number of referrals.

I have used them for years. I find them to be a great source for information and their ratings are fine if you are a small player. I have had my limits cut at a few of their "A" rated shops. I give them a B+ as well. I can honestly say I am one of the lucky ones because I have never been burned for any $$$ offshore.

It's quite simple. They've been around a while and , I assume want to stay. They've put up the up front site funding, nows it's the revenue time. They are paid by the sites they review, obviously. BUT, they monitor them closely, which is what you want. If one of them goes south, their credibility and "hits" go with it. Would you advertise kid's toys on a porn site? Same idea...Shalom, Rabbi #1

They also provide a free service to players in resolving or attempting to resolves disputes with many books.
