You could buy your way in. It's something like $400,000 Canadian on deposit with the Canadian Government for 6 years. :deal:

Depends on what you do, how much education you have, how long you have worked, if you speak English/French or both. A few other factors, but it is a point system that professionals with a college degree can pass pretty easily. Unlike the US worrying about having families together, Canada worries if you are going to be an asset to the country. You can also get residency with investments in business, about $250k when I looked at it.

After applying, it does take time to go through the process. I was told about 7 to 9 months. Then you have to pay a fee of about $5k and you are in. I seriously considered it years ago as a way to get a lower cost MBA and to leave open my job options after graduating. I got promoted just as I was thinking about it so I dropped the idea.

Very easy if you are a refugee. If you are being persecuted in your home country for any reason, you can file a claim. Takes 2 years before you get a hearing. While waiting those 2 years, you can live in Canada hassle free.

My fiancee is a Canuk and tells me you can go accross the border for six months at a time, then come back to the US and go back again for six months.

If you want to get a work visa you have to be sponsored by someone, or they have an entrepreneur visa were you have to invest $400,000 CD in a business that you get back in 5 years.

They have a marriage visa, etc.

Just go to the Canadian Immigration site.......Happy Curling

There are people who need Medical marijuana & have been busted by the USA for growing...

these peoplle fled to Canada & made an application on our CHARTER... You see it was their third strike so it was an automatic 25 YRS (For growing weed for god sake).....

In Canada our Charter does not allow "Cruel & unusual" punishment... Anyone on our soil... Canadian or Not... Can make applications against our charter...

These Yankees have applied to our governement not to be sent back to USA due to the "Cruel & Unusual" punishement they face... will be interesting

I will admitt that they do have a great health care plan, $ 60 a month and your covered and pick your doc. Approx $500 for a child delivery with an overnite stay in a four bed room.

They pay for this with a Provisional tax 0f 7.5 % and another tax I think its HSP 0f 7.5% for 15% total...Cost of living is outrageous a 12 pack oh Heineken is about $21 CD ($15 US) and it gets worse for car insurance and gas.

My Great-Granfather was in the Civil War (Southern That is), My Grand Father was a Shore Patrol Officer in WW1, and My dad was a SeaBee in WW2...I was an idiot at Florida State but am doing better now.

I ain't goi'n no where....and neither should you!!

Cost of living is less in a way... yes taxes are very high... but for example I just paid 100K for a 1800 squre foot home... ON A GOLF COURSE!!! My backyard is the 17th hole.... So although I am paying more on Tax I am paying WAY WAY less in mortgage payments.....

It is not this cheap everywhere in Canada but there are many places like this....

Will check on the $60 thing....I am considering moving there in 2006 as my fiancee's family is all there and I don't have to many left here in GA. Maybe the $60 bucks was a special circumstance I will find out shortly. My Fiancee is in Vancouver now and thats where I would live, maybe that explains the higher prices. I am only passing on second hand knowledge and Sport will know the facts.

I know her mom lives in Langley, North of Vancouver and her brother lives in Alberta, their prices are cheaper but they always go to Bellingham, WA to SuperWalmart for stuff.

Actually sir...considering the CFL is the oldest league in America going back to the 1800's the correct term would be "the superbowl is America's Grey Cup".
