Depends on what you do, how much education you have, how long you have worked, if you speak English/French or both. A few other factors, but it is a point system that professionals with a college degree can pass pretty easily. Unlike the US worrying about having families together, Canada worries if you are going to be an asset to the country. You can also get residency with investments in business, about $250k when I looked at it.
After applying, it does take time to go through the process. I was told about 7 to 9 months. Then you have to pay a fee of about $5k and you are in. I seriously considered it years ago as a way to get a lower cost MBA and to leave open my job options after graduating. I got promoted just as I was thinking about it so I dropped the idea.
