How does that "guaranteed" Marshawn Lynch one yard run look now?

Seattle just needed one yard from Lynch on 4th down to continue their drive to stay alive in OT. Stuffed for -1 yard. Game over.

I've never bought into the foregone conclusion that many of you hold that Seattle would have won the SB if they just gave the ball to Lynch.

He had a bad record in short yardage situations when needed last year. And he started out this year the same way.

Pete Carroll got a small measure of vindication today.

One situation really has nothing to do with the other. The Rams have one of the best defensive lines in the league.

Foregone conclusion is just narrative my man. Nothing is a foregone conclusion in the NFL, but they made a bad call that decreased their chances to win.

Seattle was also 1 of the better power running teams in the NFL last year.

After Hightower tackled Lynch at the 1 (really underrated play that slips through the cracks, great play), Seattle wasn't 88% to win the game because the oddsmakers felt like giving money away. They were a huge favorite for a reason....

I'm sorry, the numbers are what they are. I suppose the odds makers didn't think there would be a pick if a pass was thrown, because there were none in the previous 120 attempts

But, as you should appreciate, Butler said he saw that play for two weeks in practice. He was prepared, he executed

Wouldn't the apologists be the people making excuses for Pete Carroll? Defending him is being an apologist.

5 carries means nothing, it's just variance. There isn't a starting RB in the NFL that is 20% to score a TD from the 1 yard line. Unless his leg is broken I guess....

Just because one team screwed up doesn't diminish the accomplishment of another team, that is how sports and particularly football works. You capitalize on another teams mistakes. The Pats have been doing this for 15 years.

Lastly, I doubt he feels too vindicated, they just lost to the Rams. That has to suck.

Only a clueless idiot would think these two situations are the same as they are not. Secondly those wanting Beast Mode to get a shot to run in the Super Bowl were not asking him to run 5 yards or so to pick up one due to being in an off shotgun formation.

Spot on. Clueless idiots. And speaking of clueless idiots, Carroll tries an onside kick to start OT.

Coaches, like everyone else, can and do make mistakes. I watched Andy Reid make plenty every year. Pete happen to make a mistake when everyone was watching and it cost him a super bowl. To compare today's situation with the super bowl is one of the dumbest things ever.

got stuffed in a short yardage situation, what's so damn different?

remember this, y'all who are making the argument that running in the super bowl was such an easy an obvious call are actually arguing that the two situations are actually the same

and the fact that it was only second down last year means play action was a great option, just like Pete did

a line plunge from one yard is a line plunge from one yard, which is what you're saying should of happened even if the defense was defending that
