Dante-- Geico is about 33% higher than Progressive for me here in Florida.

Progressive has always quoted me the lowest prices in Nevada, as well as here in Florida.

On such things as car insurance, alot depends on where you live, as well as the type of coverage you want.

---FISH---

PS- With full coverage and with just liability, Progressive has proven to be the lowest for me in these two states with both types of coverages.

For starters, don't live in Colorado.....

Beyond that, just figure out what coverage you want & start calling around. There are no real shortcuts....

It's not only the state you live in but what type of area too. If you're in a big city, your rates are going to be a lot higher than in a rural area.

Quite simply, this is the answer!

Along with lying as SHRINK as suggested. :)

TTinCO, that's nothing, I'm sure you are all to familiar with the ass-raping that comes with registering a vehicle in Colorado.. It cost me over 900$ for my new 4runner 4 years ago :hump:

Ass raping is right......I about died when I found it what it cost to insure a Lexus GX 470. Ironically, I traded that in last year for a 4 Runner Ltd....just as bad.

If you really want a laugh, get a quote on a BMW 540i---it was twice as f'ing much as either truck.

Fukkin crooks..... :finger: :finger: :finger:

Insurance is a scam. You don't lie to mom and dad, but you do lie to insurance companies.

Sorry #1..I misread your post. Believe it or not, it's much cheaper to register a car in Colo than many other states, but the insurance makes up for that (and then some.....a big "some).

Usually by LYING...

Ain't this the truth. I used to live in San Francisco, but paid $12/month for a postal box at a mailboxes store out in Lafayette, about 25 miles to the East across the Bay. I did some stealthy calls, giving false names and giving the same exact specs except using the two addresses. If I used the SF address, the cost was like $1100 every six months. In Lafayette it was $540! If you live in a city of any size you can surely beat the system this way. This was about 6 years ago. I noticed a couple years later I got a mailbox in Vegas not for insurance, but for business purposes and they said if I didn't address my mail in a certain way, they were by law not supposed to deliver it. I guess maybe they caught up to the scam, but there must be ways to work it. Just pick the suburban city with lots of high end houses for your garaged address. With most of these big name insurers you can do almost anything online once you are signed up. As long as you can get your mail there once you can probably continue on with this scam forever.

It is way too much in the states.

Isn't it under $100 for the year in CR?

I think the states should have one large company or gov. department that make s insurance affordable to everyone.

It is out of hand.

It obviously depends on the value of your car, I have a common car, for all the insurances including theft and NOT insuring it for its full market value I paid about 400 dollars/year

I am currently insured by Travelers Insurance. I have a multiple car discount, plus my homeowner's insurance is through them as well. I called Progressive, Geico, State Farm, AllState and a few others, but none of them could come close to the rate I receive with Travelers.

I have three vehicles, but I get a bigger discount on the 2nd and 3rd vehicles. The 2002 Ford Explorer, which is paid for, has liability coverage only, which runs $489.00 for the entire year. The 2004 Nissan Pathfinder has full coverage, which run $989.00 for the entire year. The 2003 Lexus GX470 has full coverage, which runs $1150.00 for the entire year. I'm covered for 100/300/100.

The biggest factor that will determine your insurance rate is your driving history and your credit rating. Having a higher credit rating (720 or above) will get you a lower insurance rate.

Hope this helps.

The best Auto Insurance hands down is AAA. Not only were the premiums the lowest, they gave me the most coverage!
