Can someone please give me the formula for figuring what you've won with the different chalk percentage amounts? CHI -170, NYY -155, etc. I realize it's probably a simple formula but I'm a pretty simple guy (me no good with numbers). Obviously I got the dog numbers (+120, +145, etc) down but for instance, if I bet 300 on STL -135, what's the process?

Will Walk if you a bet round number (like 300) and lay odds just divide the amount bet by the odds but use a decimal after the first number of the odds. Example you mention:

$300 bet divided by 1.35=$222 win..

Another say $450 bet at -1.41

$450 bet divided by 1.41=$319 win.

Thanks Wilheim, I've got another question if I may,

I'm still trying to understand calculating my own numbers. OK, so I understand if you win. But what if you lose (I hear that happens)

Using the examples above, what if these bets lost:

$300 at -135

$450 at -141

Here's what don't understand, I figured the vig was worked into the payout percentage, so if I bet 300 all I could lose was 300 and wins on heavy favs are reflected in the smaller amount won...obviously this is how it works w/off-shore accts (the amount you type into the "To Bet" column is all you can lose). But then I noticed the general's figures when he was tracking Co-captains record.

If a 300 bet was a loss, he'd lose more than three hundred depending on the chalk. How is this number figured and how does the general (or anyone) know which kind of bet it is? The type where the amount wagered stays the same and the payout is adjusted OR the amount to win stays constant and the wager amount is adjusted.

Example:

**TOP 3 UNIT PLAYS ON:
Florida -122 -366
Atl +101 -300
Tex -115 -345

**2 UNIT PLAYS ON:
WS -120 200
Cubs -1.5 +105 -200
Cincy -145 200

**1 UNIT PLAY ON:
Boston -1.5 130

**2 UNIT PLAYS ON:
Angels +119 -200
Oakland -140 200
Balt +111 200

Get your calculator out ,
enter 100 , then the " / " sign (which works like the division ÷ sign), then 130 for -130 moneyline, and you'll get .769 with a bunch of numbers following. Round it off to .77, and that's your payout for an even 100 dollar bet. Just simply times .77 by 2 if it's a $200 bet, times 3 if it's $300.

I am against the concept of "having to bet 130 to win 100 dollars" or "i dont like to lay the wood because i have to risk 130 to win 100, and if i lose, i lose 130." That's a paranoid gamblers approach . Instead, use your mathematical capacity of your brain, if you are betting football sides, just calculate winning 91 bucks when you place a $100 bet on a regular pointspread bet of the standard -110 odds casinos post.
I do all my standard 1 unit bet gauges with the $100 risk, win 91 dollars on a standard -110, or 83 dollars on a -120.
