How do you feel about pro athletes makig all this $$$?

The thread about Clemens asking for $22,000,000 next season inspired this thread.

How do you guys feel about pro athletes making so much money?

I have heard some say it's not the superstars making $15,000,000 a year that hurts baseball, but rather the bench players making $2,000,000 type money,

Not sure if I agree or not.

I do believe in "free enterprise" so more power to them getting what the market will sustain on tickets etc.

but i must admit sometimes i really marvel over the money and wonder "should it be"?

any thoughts?

If all that money is not going to the players its going to the owners. No matter how much the players are payed, the owners will probably charge as much as they can for tix. I like the way the NFL agreement is worked out although it kinds of sucks for the players relative to other sports. Competition is much more balanced, I sort of like the idea of having a salary cap that is a certain proportion of the revenue instead of the revenue sharing plan that baseball has.

Maybe football is different but other sports are a joke

The old school players were not payed enough. Sure, it was a good salary back in the 40's through 70's. I believe that they played with more heart and for the thrill of the game. I can't believe some of the comments and demands that are made today.
