just wondering how you feel about the death penalty? it seems that the most conservatives are in favor of the death penalty but a couple of my friends that are strong conservatives are the biggest anti death penalty people i have ever seen. they base everything on the fact that their conservative ideas and beliefs are that a true conservative believes that the government should have no involvement in individual lives. saying that they say that there is no bigger issue the government can be involved in than the power of life or death. any thoughts on this?

im no conservative, but i would be opposed to the death penalty in most cases....reason for this being, it sure would suck if an innocent man was put to death....

also, the talking point about the death penalty being a deterant is not true....

that being said, in the case of someone like the BTK murderer, someone who has admitted to these horrible crimes....i say fry his ass....then i think, wouldn't it be better to make him suffer in jail....i mean, frying him is so quick....his pain should last....

I guess I would be considered a conservative but I am pretty unique in my thoughts, i think, so I think I am more of an independent......

I am VERY MUCH in favor of the Death Penalty, and in fact I don't think we use it enuff!

like the guy that kidnapped the kids and killed those people in Idaho should die...let's say he didn't kill the people but still kidnapped and molested the kids, he should still see death....

and BTK should be killed within the next few months, but for some reason it always takes YEARS or NEVER hapenns.....

i was wondering if you think that the government has no right to decide who lives and dies? it is the ultimate control that can be decided upon us.

From a right of center Dem, DP is OK. Cannot compare abortion w/DP that is just a red herring. Big difference between murder(taking an innocent's life) and a justified killing.

I'm a Conservative, and I am Against the death Penalty.

No great reasoning, I don't mind when filth gets killed, but I do believe we have already put innocent men to death, and I think letting killers rot in jail (no possibility of Parol) is better than Killing an innocent man.

Eye Witnesses are the Most Unreliable Evidence. DNA is about all I'd ever trust.

I agree you can't kill someone a week after their conviction but it's funny Koi, you have told me before that we have the BEST system in the world and that we have to have faith in the system to work, yet your worried about someone being innocent that has already been convicted...if you had faith in the system, would you be worrying about innocent convicted people?

We the people need to take back our streets from the criminals. If frying a few thousand assholes, so be it.

Opponents will talk about how much it cost to keep prisoners in jail and death row inmates.

I present the question.....what is and has been the price for allowing these criminals to prey on the common people?

Lawrence, there is a difference. Abortion is the taking of an innocent life while the death penalty is the taking of the opposite.

I am as anti-abortion as they come but I am in favour of the death penalty when you have DNA evidence.
