UN rep say America is stingy after all America does and they steal a cool 18 BILLION. I would stop funding these clowns and board up the UN doors and deport all of the corrupt basta*ds. This clown actually talked about Americans paying more taxes to aid the world. GET THE FUKK OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!

They fukked the deal in Haiti, and now the Sudan. They are worthless and are trying for another money grab at the expense of the people that truly need help.

Send food, water, tents, blankets, and medicine BUT ZERO CASH.

Well, he actually criticised all Western nations, but I suppose to an American that is besides the point.

The US is giving $35M. Canada is giving $3.25M (in USD). For both of us, that's just over ten cents per person.

It is goddamned stingy and we know we can do better than that.

Canada has an outstanding $100M/USD pledged for Iraq's reconstruction. There is no reason whatsoever we can't transfer a good chunk of that money to these countries. Not one good reason.

You guys can do what you want, but I'm embarassed by my country right now.

XP,

How about the UN kicking in some of the 18 BILLION they stole. Americans are the most giving people on Earth and will give, we don't need the *** trying to make a money grab again.

I don't give a flying fúck what the UN thinks of the aid amounts our countries are donating. I know that I think it's goddamned stingy and said so yesterday. The fact is, you do not, and cannot see past your politics long enough to realise that these people desperately need our help or tens of thousands more are going to die. We are in a very fortunate position to help. It's just the right thing to do.

Fúck you if you think otherwise.

The reason Gameface is upset is because that rep didn't say western nations and then leave it at that or at least on CNN. Specifically the U.S. was mentioned by name and not other countries such as Canada or whatever. "...U.S. and others." :nono5:

Personally, I was raised to graciously accept what was offered in the name of benevolence. It kind of reminds me of my little nephew after opening his last present on Christmas: "Is that it?" Yes, that's it, you little prick!

On a per capita basis, or even as a percentage of GNP, this is far far far from the truth. The US currently ranks 27th in per capita aid, and that's without excluding faux aid to Israel's military.

We enjoy our standard of living through pure blind luck. We just happened to be born here, where the weather is generally favourable, the economy has long been growing, and our infrastructures have long been in place. This holier-than-thou attitude in the face of utter catastrophe is appalling.

We are in a position to help, and we should, to our maximum ability. How about if you just hold back one day's worth of bound-for-Iraq ammo and donate the dollar savings to the tsunami victims? That's got to at least double the amount pledged now ... and you'll be able to sleep better at night.

lander,

Why be a troll? I'm merely pointing out that its bad form for them to request help and then say that it should be more. That's why I put that little analogy in my previous post so I would avoid these misunderstandings. It's nice to see that my effort was wasted.

To make your dream a reality, some woman left a candle burning in her apartment 3 years ago and it consumed her unit and 4 others(mine included). I had to live with my brother-in-law for 2 months. Not once did I say that his couch was uncomfortable nor did I complain about the quality and taste of the food or the lack of hot water and clean towels. No, I was appreciative of his hospitality.

Another question for you: How is my first post racist at all? I know that you love to say that people are racist when they disagree with what you believe to be the truth but c'mon. You've called me a racist before but the context of the conversation in which you used that term would imply that I hate my own race (or one of the 4 in my genetic makeup). If I hate my race and I hate all races then how can I be racist if I hate everyone? :think2:

We at least Bush stopped his vacation for a few hours to criticize the guy from the UN. He didn't have any time in his buys schedule of clearing brush and doing chores around the ranch to even come up to the cameras for two minutes to send out a message of sympathy and a comment that we will send more money and resources. We don't even have to give the money to the UN Game, the UN guy just said spend more. If we gave our money to the Red Cross instead would you still be bitching about this or would you waste your breath on claiming they were stealing money too?

Lets all follow Game's idea. Board up the UN and stop playing any role in it. In a world full of anarchy, we win. We have the best army and the most money and resources to fight. Only would cost us 10% of our economic resources and a few million our of people, but gee who is counting?

If you criticise loud enough, they eventually respond:

Ottawa pledging $40 million for tsunami relief

Last Updated Wed, 29 Dec 2004 17:34:46 EST

OTTAWA - Ottawa pledged another $36 million to help the relief efforts in Southeast Asia in the wake of the deadly tsunami, Defence Minister Bill Graham announced Wednesday, bringing Canada's total to $40 million. Graham also announced that a 12-member reconnaissance team will go to the devastated area to make recommendations on whether Canada's rapid disaster response team should be deployed.

A planeload of relief supplies will go to Indonesia, the nation hardest hit by the earthquake and resulting tsunami, Graham said.

He said the advance team will be made up personnel from Canada's Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART), foreign affairs and the Canadian International Development Agency.

The federal government has faced questions as to why Canada has not yet sent out its 200-member rapid response unit, which can operate a mobile command centre, a medical facility, and water purification equipment capable of producing 100,000 litres of clean drinking water.

Officials have said DART is not a "short-term response mechanism" and usually isn't deployed within the first 72 hours of a crisis.

But they did not rule out sending the team.

Earlier this week, Graham said none of the local governments involved had requested the unit, and that Canadian officials had been advised that sending DART was not necessary at this time.

Hey, dipsh*t, a 'planeload of relief supplies' doesn't come to $40 million.
