I'll give you that. There have been Defensive Laxes, I won't argue that but much of that REP has come from times when he has not been 100% and he hasn't "let on" about that at times for various reasons. Mostly that he felt the team would be better with him on the Field than not so there....

Just as I can't debate that Dempsey Defense has indeed at times been worthy of the term "lazy" the bigger issue is with Ego where that regards Dempsey feeling like he should be the one to decide if he should play or not when he is less, and on occasion far less, than 100%.

Was at the game last night. $115 for upper 300 level seats. Tons of empty seats in the good 200 level section. They wanted $700 for those. They could have sold out the place with reasonable prices.
The US has scored seven goals so far this tournament. Dempsey has played a part in six of them. 3 goals and 3 assists. He plays better when he is surrounded by speedy players, like Zardes and Wood.
The whole team played well, but center back Brooks played outstanding. He was clearing out everything, blocking shots.
They made it as far as I had hoped. Argentina is next.
