All sportsbooks and their sizes.
Itty Bitty-size
Small-size
Mid-size
Large-size.
Extra Large-size
Super Dooper-size

Because if you ask people who knew, Blue Marlin is a small small book. There is nothing mid-size about them. It was run by one guy with 3 computers. So the Mid-size book going down in 9 days, and it being Blue marlin. How are people to know what size these books are. It will be interesting to see the size of all these books. Because SBR was sure wrong about the size of Blue Marlin.

This is an excellent post.

I assumed that Blue Marlin was mid-sized because, well, that's what we hear.

Most of us are not insiders in CR, and we hear these things 2nd, 3rd, 4th hand.

Dru,
Since you're actually down there can you start the list?

What are the criteria for each size classification? Not that size matters...or at least I hope not

Well, I dont know that my list would be accurate. a few years ago might have been different. Unlike all the rest of these books, We were the 3rd book to come to Costa Rica in 1996. Cris, Tradewinds, then Lenny. Everyone else that says they have been in CR making book for 8 years, 7 years, whatever. They are all blowing smoke up you ass. Back then it was easy. Now, the past 2 or 3 years, There are so many little guys coming here to open up. I means tons. I dont talk to many people anymore. There are so many different stories, so many different lies, I pretty much keep to myself, go home everynight to my beautiful 3 year old daughter. But for you Lander, i will give it a shot.

Super Dooper: (meaning Big Volume and years of experience)
1. Grande
2. Cris
3. Oly
4. HollyWood
5. Jazz
6. Cascade
7. Pinnacle
8. WWTS
Thats it for my list. Those are the books that if I had to send money to, those would be the ones. Why even mess around with anyone else. Because when to stray over to the "otherside", to those "other books". Things like this happens. Not saying anything negative about any of the books I didn't mention, but why mess around.

That makes alot of sense - I've rarely seen any complaints about those books.

Is Jazz really that big? Are they safe?
I haven't heard much about them (bad or good).

Thanks.

Dru,

In all fairness, you should have added RIO to that list in spite of your recent squabble with them...

Also, I would include Tradewinds, Canbet & WSEX to that list...

"Because when to stray over to the "otherside", to those "other books"."

Similar to a once-domesticated animal that strays from location to location in search of nourishment, I observe that most speculators in these parts stray from the core safety of your reference institutions in their pursuit of the path of least resistance to the aggregation of wealth. That is, they seek the (perceived) easy money afforded to them in the form of deposit bonuses offered by those institutions also on the path of least resistance to the aggregation of wealth via their attempt to create a critical mass of clients and subsequent profits where there is none. Unfortunately the path of least resistance to the aggregation of wealth most often results in the opposite effect on capital appreciation due to the primordial role of greed.

What about sportsbook.com??? They are HUGE themselves! I find it hard to believe that all of the other books on your list have more "computers and customer service reps" than sportsbook.com

It just appears that no one else around here like them at all. They were of course MY VERY FIRST book that I played with on the net. I actually played with them exclusively for at least 2 years before I heard of this site in 2001

D- to D+ Poor, some risk to players funds. Poor customer service, ect

Are you kidding ?? Some risk to players funds. No way they will stiff anyone.

i agree with danny may on sportsbook, and the others in that group, no risk whatsoever.

altho, i think the customer service could be much better. sometimes i think of them as the walmart of the industry, great for a lot of people but perhaps not the 'sophisticated consumer'

Players, I have noticed very few folks here mention the book at all, but if you believe there's safety in numbers, then they're the joint.

I'd still rather take the Titanic overseas than a sailboat any day.

That's odd because Buzz was just boasting in the other thread how he knew exactly how big it was and everything else. He threw that stuff out in "hints" to maybe help any poor saps about to get stiffed. He's still gloating about the whole thing and picked the day it was to go down but had no idea about the size of the place? Very weird.

Shouldn't have any worries with Jazz. The main guy with them is one of the sharpest guys there is in this business. Don't hear a lot about him but he's a very good guy to have on your team.

Is Millenium and Infinity in Costa Rica, and if so they're pretty good sized, not?

Bowmans seems like a very large place that has been around long before any of these books.

Lander- Jazz is a BIG book and they take tons of sharp action.
PlayersOnly- Isn't playersonly.com the main book out of all those books associated with sportsbook.com?
Redneckman- As far as clients and clerks go, Millenium/Nasa and SBG are the biggest BUT they don't take sharp action so you can't put them on the same list as the other books. Nasa and SBG have an average bet that is 10x less than those other books and thats not exaggerating.
