This has been one of the most unpredictable MLB postseasons in recent memory, and that’s saying a lot – this playoff format is as close to a lottery as you’ll find in the major sports leagues. But one thing has been fairly consistent: The Phillies have been mashing. Heading into Game 3 on Tuesday, Philadelphia had the Over at 8-4-1 in the postseason, fuelled by a .729 team OPS (No. 2 overall).
Granted, the Astros have the Under at 5-3-1 despite ranking third in playoff OPS at .720 before Game 3. But the Over cashed in for Game 1 of this series, and Game 2 ended in a push. That’s the power of Philly’s batting order in action, with Bryce Harper (1.230 OPS) leading all players at 20 hits and five home runs.
