CONSORTIUM*CHOICES

# 5 MIKELEH 5/2
# 9 GRAN GABRIEL 7/2
# 7 BS TYRICHESS 10/1

The choice in this event is MIKELEH. Could very well be the most respectable in the field of horses here, showing very good numbers of late. Avg speed is a solid 77. It's chancy to consider based only on class, but this mare has among the finest class statistics of the race. Could best this pack, just look at the speed fig - 64 - from her most recent contest. GRAN GABRIEL - It's dangerous to consider solely based on class, but this mare has among the most respectable class rankings of the pack. Racing competently, recorded a very promising TrackMaster Speed Rating in her most recent race (72). BS TYRICHESS - Hard to put finger on it, but love her for this one.

# 3 MACHO CHICK 3/1
# 2 ROYAL KNOCKOUT 8/1
# 5 EDEN PAIGE N 10/1

If you want a really strong play in this event, feast your eyes on MACHO CHICK. This fine animal will be greatly helped with Merton controlling. 29 percent winners the past month. ROYAL KNOCKOUT - Many selectors will recognize the exemplary TrackMaster Speed Rating in the last contest. Stacks up against any horse in this grouping. Chances are greatly enhanced for horses beginning from the 2 post at Yonkers Raceway. EDEN PAIGE N - Could provide us a win based on very nice recent TrackMaster speed figs - earning an avg of 87. The 88 avg class statistic may give this mare a distinct advantage in the group of animals.

# 6 BLOW MY MIND 7/2

# 3 AMODEI 8/5

# 1 LOFTY CAUSE 2/1

I've got to go with BLOW MY MIND. Formidable average Speed Figures in dirt sprint races make this equine a solid choice. This equine enters today's race with second time Lasix. AMODEI - Has decent Equibase speed figs and has to be considered for a wager here. Has been moving in the most competitive company of the group of animals lately. LOFTY CAUSE - Recently Arroyo has been scorching which may give the edge to this filly. Solid average speed figures in dirt sprint races make this animal a definite contender.

RECOMMENDED*CHOICES

# 9 FLEETING HOPE 3/1

# 6 LOCO FOR COCO 5/2

# 4 FIGHT FOR FREEDOM 7/2

FLEETING HOPE is the most favorable wager in this race. He has been running solidly and the speed figures are among the strongest in this group. This gelding looks good for this event since McMahon has a sharp win percent with horses going this distance. Looks solid to be close to the front end at the first call. LOCO FOR COCO - Is worth serious consideration and may be a bet - strong speed figures (56 average) at today's distance and surface as of late. Ran a solid last race. FIGHT FOR FREEDOM - Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Barr have shown strong results as of late. Must be considered - I like the numbers from the last race.

Tampa Bay Downs - Race #1 - Post: 12:25pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $15,200 Class Rating: 76

Rating:

#5 SPECTACULARWARRIOR (ML=2/1)
#1 CHICO GRIS (ML=4/1)

SPECTACULARWARRIOR - Sub-par outing last time out at Tampa Bay Downs was due to the off-going (he finished fourth). Have to give a better effort in this race without the slop. Was in a Maiden Special race at Tampa Bay Downs in the last race. That event had a class number of 85 and he is moving down right here. A certain strong challenger. No need to look any further. This horse has my cash. Way too much pace. This horse brings in a lot of dough per race around the track. I believe he will add to the lifetime bankroll in this race. O'Connell moves this gelding to the dirt today. Look for an improvement from the most recent race on the turf. CHICO GRIS - Always beware of the longer priced horse when a trainer has an 'uncoupled' entry in a race. The jockey and handler combination have a favorable return on investment when they combine forces. This trainer has a super ROI with 1st time starters.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 SUPERMANS CAPE (ML=3/1), #3 TRISMEN (ML=9/2), #6 THURSTON (ML=5/1),

SUPERMANS CAPE - No picnic to back any steed in a sprint affair if he hasn't finished in the money in a sprint in the last sixty days. TRISMEN - This steed will probably be at the back of the pack as this group crosses the finish. THURSTON - I don't possess a positive sensation about this questionable contender in this event.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - CHICO GRIS - O'Connell is fantastic with a first time starter. Terrific winning percentage.*

Hawthorne - Race #3 - Post: 1:55pm - Maiden Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $12,000 Class Rating: 57

Rating:

#1 NAME IT AFTER ME (ML=7/2)
#8 SUMMIE BABY (ML=4/1)

NAME IT AFTER ME - This filly has 'tactical' speed, Santiago will use this advantage by laying in stalking position behind the leaders, and getting first run on the leaders. Dorris brings her back again. I suggest you stay with this hot filly. This filly earned a nice speed fig of 46 in her last race. That speed fig should be lofty enough to win in today's event. She has the highest earnings per start. Check out this horse. SUMMIE BABY - I like the fact that this first time starter's recent works have been over this track. I always like to see a thoroughbred getting Lasix for the first time. Becker adds it on this one today.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 GEAUX TIGERS (ML=9/2), #6 CROOKED LADY (ML=5/1), #3 SILVER SKYLER (ML=6/1),

GEAUX TIGERS - The seventh place result in the last event was not the greatest. CROOKED LADY - Finished second in her most recent race with a pedestrian speed rating. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to triumph after that in this bunch. SILVER SKYLER - Last performed on December 1st at Hawthorne, finishing fourth. Not likely to move up off of that outing in today's race.

GUEST COMMENTARY: Winston - NAME IT AFTER ME - I enjoy wagering on big class droppers like this one. Much easier field this time out.

RACE #8 -AQUEDUCT - 3:47 PM

The Garland of Roses Stakes

6.0 FURLONGS WINTERIZED INNER DIRT TRACK FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $125,000.00 PURSE

#6 PAULASSILVERLINING
#1 KELSOCAIT
#2 DISCO CHICK
#4 MY SAVANNAH BELLE

For your information folks ... the Garland of Roses is named for the Hobeau Farm color-bearer who won the 1974 Parlo Turf Handicap and 1975 Black Helen Handicap at the ages of 5 and 6, respectively. Here in the 23rd running of this stakes event, #6 PAULASSILVERLINING takes a class drop(-6), is the overall speed and pace profile leader in this stakes field sprinting at 6.0 furlongs on the dirt, and has produced "POWER RUN PERFORMANCES" in five straight, including a pair of "POWER RUN WINS" embedded in this recent streak of racing consistency. Jockey Jose Ortiz has been in her irons on 10 previous occasions, hitting the board in 7 of those rides, winning five times, and is back this afternoon here in Ozone Park for his 11th ride, gunning for a "Double Hat Track Win!" #1 KELSOCAIT, a 6-1 shot, has hit the board in four of her last five outings, winning three times, including a "POWER RUN WIN" in her 2nd race back.

At the Gate - Friday
By Mike Dempsey

The next Road to the Kentucky Derby points race comes up on Saturday, the $300,000 Los Alamitos Cash Call Futurity (G1), but it turns out it is not much of a betting race.

There are 10-4-2-1 Derby points up for grabs for the top four finishers.

The race drew a small field of jut five, led by the Bob Baffert trained Mastery, who is the 1-2 morning line favorite. The colt won the Bob Hope (G3) in his last outing and is currently listed at +1000 in early Kentucky Derby wagering.

Baffert has won the Futurity a record eight times including last year with Mor Spirit and in 2015 with Dortmund.

Baffert will also saddle Show Me Da Lute, the 7-2 second choice on the morning line. The colt broke his maiden in his debut and is currently listed at +14000 in early Derby betting.

If the Baffert duo are going to get upset, it could be Dangerfield (6-1) that does the trick. The Doug O’Neill trainee won the Oak Tree Juvenile on Oct. 1 and most recently was third in the Delta Downs Jackpot (G3).

Peter Miller will saddle Bobby Abu Dhabi (4-1), who broke his maiden in his debut on Nov. 19. Completing the field is Irap, still maiden after two starts on turf for the O’Neill burn. The colt is 20-1 on the morning line.

It looks as if we will have better wagering races on Saturday with the $125,000 Garland of Roses at the Big A and we have seven $75,000 stakes on tap at Gulfstream Park.

I will have full card reports for both tracks available by Friday evening.

Here is the opening race from Gulfstream Park to get the day off to a good start:

GP Race 1 Clm $6,250N3L (12:35 ET)
#9 Horse Spotter Carl 9-2
#8 Joey Six Pack 7-2
#3 Starship Apache 2-1
#4 Candy Jam 6-1

Analysis: Horse Spotter Carl is going to be the higher price among the duo sent out by the Dwoskin barn. The colt tracked the early pace and could not catch the winner in the stretch in a runner up finish last out at this level while lugging in. The colt beat $12,500 non-winners of two in his first start against winners three back at GP West. He looks back on track after failing to fire two back and we should catch a fair price.

Joey Six Pack set the early fractions and weakened in the stretch to finish fourth last out, exiting the same race as our top pick. He was a good second two back in his first start at this condition in the slop. He owns solid early and mid pace numbers and his numbers two and three back are good enough to beat this group.

Wagering
WIN: #9 to win at 7-2 or better.
EX: 8,9 / 3,4,8,9
TRI: 8,9 / 3,4,8,9 / 3,4,5,8,9

Today’s Featured Race of the Day from Gulfstream Park:

GP Race 8 OClm $12,500N1X (4:02 ET)
#1 Mia Torri 2-1
#4 April Rose 8-1
#3 True Pleasure 9-2
#7 Melody Girl 6-1

Analysis: Mia Torri made a mild late rally to finish third last out at Philly versus Alw-2 company. Two back this gal was beaten just a neck in the Charles Town Oaks (G3). She makes her first start here for the Navarro barn that is 23% winners with newcomers to the barn and has already picked up three wins at the meeting from his first 11 starters. Castellano takes the call and this gal likely goes off at less than the 2-1 morning line.

April Rose beat $16,000 non-winners of three or a race in ix months last out in her first start off an eight-month layoff. The filly earned a career top speed fig and looks sharp enough to handle the step up in class here for the Klesaris barn. She does not need to move forward much off her last win to be right in the mix in this spot.

Wagering
WIN: #1 to win at 8-5 or better.
EX: 1,4 / 1,3,4,7
TRI: 1,4 / 1,3,4,7 / 1,3,4,7,8

Live Longshots:
These are price plays for exotic players looking to find a couple of extra contenders to use in their trifecta and superfecta wagers. Or for those with smaller bankrolls, you might want to get in a small win-place wager.

Gulfstream Park
R3: #7 Medal 15-1
R4: #3 Infilitrada 8-1
R6: #4 Prince of England 15-1
R7: #9 Angel Choir 8-1
R7: #1 Forever Plus 10-1
R8: #4 April Rose 8-1
R10: #12 Feel Proud 8-1
R10: #6 Mojo Rising 8-1

Good luck today!

MEET STATS: 44 - 166 / $244.00 BEST BETS: 8 - 16 / $25.80

SPOT PLAYS: 3 - 16 / $15.20

Best Bet: HOT SPOT HANOVER (2nd)

Spot Play: TEMPUS SEELSTER (8th)

Race 1

(8) NIPS BEACH GIRL was beaten by a rival last week that would lay over this group. She looks solid vs. these and should be prominent throughout. (10) ACEFOURTYFOUR ALEX has only missed the board three times in 23 starts this year and she fits well here despite drawing farthest outside. (5) SAND SLINGER should improve in her second start over this track coming back much quicker this time. (4) SR BEACH BABE ships in with solid form but she has missed a month now; minor share predicted.

Race 2

(1) HOT SPOT HANOVER is in tremendous form and she shouldn't have much trouble with this group. (8) ICTHELIGHT HANOVER faced much better older rivals last time and she wasn't disgraced. She should be the main threat, if there is one. (6) MISTY DE VIE will be passing foes late for a share. (5) QUEENOFTHEJUNGLE can take a share here if she is sent for position near the front early.

Race 3

(5) JUSTICE JET faced better down south and he had a decent qualifier here on December 1st. Allard hasn't exactly been on fire at this meet yet, but I'll give this one the nod. (4) DUNVEGAN DON has yet to win this year but he could make an impact in this suspect field. (6) HUBBY NUMBER ONE moves into the best post and he should be prominent here if he can stay flat. (3) FACING JUSTICE raced well from an outer post last time and he should take a share here.

Race 4

(2) WAASMULA moved first-up on a razor-sharp leader that wasn't slowing down last week. With that rival gone, she should be tough in here. (4) YAGONNAKISSMEORNOT should wake up with a better effort in this third start off a break due to a vet scratch. (3) WRANGLER MAGIC beat the choice last time but that was off a perfect pocket trip and she lost ground to the winner late; smaller share predicted. (6) MS MAC N CHEESE will be there early and likely hold on to a smaller slice late.

Race 5

(1) TRUE REFLECTION couldn't repel a strong winner last time but she did well to hold 2nd. She looks as good as any in this wide-open affair. (2) VELOCITY REIGN ships in for Weller. Enough said; using. (8) MAPPOS MOENHAY is worth a look at a price returning to the circuit where she took her life's mark earlier this year. (3) WHISTYS PARADISE should pass many of these in the lane and make the ticket.

Race 6

(3) UTOPIA has shown much more early speed since the Moreau claim three starts back. Filion should have him rolling early here; top call. (6) ITS HUW YOU KNOW takes a big class drop here and he should make his presence felt if he can stay trotting. (4) TOTALLY RIPPED can take a good share here off a following trip close to the front. (8) HARPER BLUE CHIP continues to burn money every week searching for his first win in more than two years. I will play to beat him again here.

Race 7

(8) CASIMIR OPERAQUEEN had good speed both early and late to win last time and she faces similar here; call to repeat. (4) I WISH YOU WELL supplied the choice with a perfect pocket trip and then couldn't hold her off late. This looks like a two-horse race again. (1) DORABELLA meets tougher coming off a win. She can share off a following trip here. (6) ZEALOUS SEELSTER can be closer here leaving from a better post.

Race 8

(5) TEMPUS SEELSTER returns quicker and from an improved post here. She should get an honest pace to stalk, too; top call. (1) DOCS SAUSILITO tuned up for this series with a sharp win last week. She's a Pick 4 must-use. (4) NEVER ANY DOUBT comes back quicker here after a dull effort. Expect improvement. (6) ART ANGEL BABY will likely be in front for a while here but will likely find it tough to hold off the top three choices.

Race 9

(2) ARTISTIC MADISON turned things around with a sharp win last week. She excels on this track in cold weather; call to repeat. (8) KISS ME OR NOT took a shuffle in a race with many lead changes last time. She projects to get a better trip on the pace here. (6) LIGHTS GO OUT drops slightly and she's worth a look despite missing three weeks. (1) SHOW SOME LEG can take a smaller share again here.

Race 10

(2) DONTBRUISECARRIE took a ton of action first time out for Auciello last week but she ruined her chances with a break in stride in the stretch. She can rebound here in a good spot. (1) BROOKDALE SHADOW moves inside and drops to the bottom conditioned level here. She makes sense as a pace threat. (7) JUSTABIT MEAN made up some ground late in the mile last week. She can close for a slice here. (5) BACK YARD BABY can be closer here dropping in class making her second start back off a break. (10) LEGAL PROCESS will be a big price here off her dismal effort last time, but she is capable of better.

Meadowlands: Friday 12/9 Analysis
By Derick Giwner

DRF

Race 1 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 55 - 160 / $268.60 (-$51.40)

BEST BETS: 6 - 13 / $15.80 (-$10.20)

Best Bet: MASTER OF EXCUSES (11th)

Spot Play: FASHION CREDITOR (6th)

Race 1

(5) ELLEN’S STREAK finally gets out of post 10 and it is hard to fault her body of work in the amateur ranks. Mare finds an easier spot this week and should prove tough. (3) BRANDOS MUSCLE MAN raced well from the back of the pack versus a runaway winner last time. (1) FEISTY LOVE moves inside after starting from posts seven and eight; some early speed tonight? (7) DREAM ROCKER raced evenly last time. I’m not ready to toss him here but don’t love his win chances.

Race 2

(9) P L ICABOD raced evenly from the back of the pack in his first start for this barn. The post isn’t ideal tonight, but with the drop in class to face a very questionable field, I’ll take my chances. (3) O’WOW has early speed in his arsenal which almost certainly will put him in a winning spot if good enough. (4) FUNNY PHOTO was just even in his qualifier with Lasix added. Sometimes it takes a start for the medication to have its full effect. (1) BELL A CHICK is the most obvious horse to beat on paper but appeared on the verge of breaking in his qualifier.

Race 3

(7) MAJOR BUBBLES N drops in class and gets Brett Miller back in the bike. The last time he was at the helm in this class this guy went down the road. (6) GREAT SOUL gets an interesting driver change to David Miller off a decent performance. (1) SIR JAKE’S Z TAM drops in for a tag to stay in a similar class. He is sharp and seems like a must-use underneath. (2) FOX VALLEY CUPID put in a sharp mile in his first start for this barn.

Race 4

I’m torn when it comes to (2) SWEET JUSTICE. I’ve been waiting for this drop in class because I think he is in better form than it looks, but this field came up tough for this class. I’m going to roll the dice assuming we get a double-digit price. (3) NOWUCIT NOWUDONT is a no-brainer to include at this level; big factor if he behaves. (4) MARCH AWARENESS is another finally getting some class relief and with David Miller opting off, he should offer some value.

Race 5

(1) FOUR HOUR NAP was under consideration for my horses to watch list because he got stuck in stretch traffic and would have finished better than ninth with clearance. I kept him off the list because he wasn’t going to drop in class but the connections threw me a curveball by entering for a claiming tag. (5) CAROBBEAN PACETRY takes the same meaningful class drop as the top choice and has the early speed to make serious noise. (2) ROYAL ENGAGEMENT never got involved in her first start off the claim but is certainly eligible to improve.

Race 6

(6) FASHION CREDITOR has two wins in his last four conditioned races when at The Meadowlands while facing similar or better than tonight’s competition. Coming off a sixth-place finish, I don’t want to miss the boat on him at a decent price. (4) OPENING NIGHT didn’t fire versus slightly better a week ago. He’ll definitely be an exotics factor and wouldn’t be a shock on the win end. (9) OPULENT YANKEE couldn’t handle the winner last time and won’t be helped by the outside posts.

Race 7

(9) SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR drops for the second straight week and gets a meaningful driver change to Tetrick this week. With a good post she would’ve been my best bet. (2) THAT WOMAN HANOVER finds a field that seems to lack an abundance of early speed and that is a quality she possesses in spades. (1) SHEEZA SHARK N was a major disappointment last out. Maybe she didn’t appreciate the aggressive tactics. (4) CANDY STYX N couldn’t be any sharper.

Race 8

(6) HOUSE ON FIRE was scratched-sick out of his first start for new trainer Jennifer Lappe. He stays in the same class but this is a much easier spot. (4) WING FLASH raced well in her first start with Lasix and it is worth seeing how she does stretching out to the bigger track. (8) STITCH IN TIME has bad form but like the top choice is facing the softest field he has seen in some time.

Race 9

(8) CHANGE THE RULZ N gets his chance on the big track for the first time since arriving in North America. In a field without a clear standout, I’ll take a swing. (3) RIGHT STUFF is back at a winning level; dangerous. (2) SHE’S HEAVENLY should get away close and have the chance to hit the exotics.

Race 10

(2) CAN DO plunges in class and adds Tetrick to the equation. Veteran knows his way to the winner’s circle and only finds serious competition from (1) WORLD CUP, who is coming off a solid mile and should take plenty of tote action. (8) BIG EXPENSE has been racing well and shouldn’t be hurt by the addition of Brett Miller in the bike.

Race 11

(3) MASTER OF EXCUSES put in a solid effort in his first start after shipping in from Hoosier and seems like a clear standout with Tetrick in the bike. (8) DOC drops a notch on the claiming spectrum and should be able to make his way into the exotics. (9) EXPRESSIVE ACTION moves down to the basement condition and could potentially show early speed.

Race 12

(6) LET HER ROCK raced pretty well two starts back and got caught in a quick mile last time. She drops down tonight and seems logical. (1) ANTY ENTITY ships in from Saratoga and owns a win over the track. (9) GENTLE JANET didn’t exactly get a great trip last Friday. She is ready to win if she gets smooth sailing. (8) SPORTSMUFFLER is off a decent mile.

Yonkers: Friday 12/9 Analysis
By Brewster Smith

DRF

MEET STATS: 291 - 1232 / $1,872.50

BEST BETS: 32 - 115 / $151.10

Best Bet: BEDROOMCONFESSIONS (8th)

Spot Play: WRAPPED TO GO (2nd)

Race 1

(4) COPPER COAST A scored his second straight victory and this gelding appears to be in excellent form; ready for the three-peat. (2) WINTER BLAST gets a good post tonight and has tactical speed. (6) ADDWATER sharp in victory last out but must try to get it done again from the 6-hole; maybe.

Race 2

(6) WRAPPED TO GO was sent down the road in her latest for all the glory and is very capable of getting the job done over this weak group. (1) LITTLE MISS HENRY gets post relief and that should help her cause. (4) GOTTA BE ME rallied strongly at the 3/4 pole but could not get to the top pair in her most recent outing.

Race 3

(5) OK GEMMA moves back down in class where she closed well to nail down the third spot last out; figures to put her best foot forward against these. (2) SUMMER SNOW was on the move in deep stretch but missed the victory by a neck; big threat. (1) RIVIERA has good speed and gets door number one; not out of this.

Race 4

(7) PHOOS GIRL gets class relief and she does have a fondness for the Hilltop; poised to boss these at her best. (2) CRUISINWITHMYBABY was sent down the road last time out but ran out of gas and held on for place money; main danger. (4) NEW YORK KITTY Plainridge invader makes her return to Yonkers where she was a very game second on November 1st; watch out.

Race 5

(6) DIABANDO seems to be in a better spot tonight and Dube knows this pacing gelding; quite possible. (1) SAMS ESCAPE is knocking at the door based on his last two tries. (3) MIGHTY PERUVIAN N showed good early zip in his Pocono finale.

Race 6

(7) ALL ARTIST Gelding seems to be heading in the right direction and with a favorable trip, he could pick them up and lay them down. (4) DATELINE HANOVER was second best at a good price last out; main danger. (1) PERSEVERANT should do much better from the fence; must be considered in all the exotic slots.

Race 7

(6) BABY REMIND ME Mare has put in two solid efforts in a row so this might be an indication this 5-year-old pacer can move forward and greet the cameraman for pictures. (2) ROYAL KNOCKOUT Jersey shipper gets post relief and should appreciate the move to the half-mile oval. (1) CANACO STAR took the pocket route on his way to victory last out.

Race 8

(6) BEADROOMCONFESSIONS almost got the job done in her last start against most of these and now this mare has every right to be the boss. (7) MACH IT A PAR was late on the scene to nail down the score recently. (8) KRISPY APPLE tailed off just a bit in her last try but clearly is not out of this event by far.

Race 9

(7) HEAVENS LEGACY moves down the ladder and she gets the services of Jason Bartlett; all systems go for all the marbles. (2) VALENTINA DE VIE should fare better from the 2-hole. (4) PASULTIMATEDELITE N put in a mild rally for show money in her last trip to the post.

Race 10

(7) NERIDA FRANCO N closed well in deep stretch but could not get to the top two in her last start. She is in winning form and if the right trip comes her way, the rest will have to settle for minor awards. (2) MILLWOOD FAITH N was late on the scene to nail down the show spot last time out; contender. (5) LOVINEVERYMINUTE flashed good speed in her Philly finale; watch out.

Race 11

(2) CHEYENNE ROBIN is back in door number two where this pacing mare got the job done two starts ago; primed to return to her winning ways. (6) HIDDEN LAND came very wide at the 3/4 pole and mowed them down for all the glory last out; dangerous again. (8) REGIL ELEKTRA is back with old friends where she got the job done on November 18th; capable despite the move to the 8-hole.
