Will update record when Sunday's action is complete. Wanted to get this one out now as I will happily take this number. Saturday's loss is giving us a good number.
5 Unit
Notre Dame -1 -110
ND was in a typical look ahead game Saturday playing at a scrappy St John's team with a Big Monday game against Georgetown waiting for them. While this type of Gtown team would have given them trouble in the past I don't see it being the case this season. Usually the Hoyas would be able to muscle up the Irish and control the glass. It should be the opposite Monday. Notre Dame has Harangody down low, while Georgetown has been struggling on the glass. It was the reason they lost against Pitt on Saturday, at home. Young and Blair dominated the Hoyas on the glass. The Hoyas struggle against big post presense should as Gody. Monroe is a good player, but he is a little more developed on the offensive end rather then defense. The Hoyas also will not be able to play their zone defense against the Irish because they have the ability to shoot them right out of it. There aren't many better teams when playing at home, mainly because they shoot the ball so well from outside. They are especially comfortable playing on their home court. There is no secret why shooting teams perform much better at home. I have said it a million times there is nothing like shooting on the hoops that you practice on normally. The Irish have protected their home court just as good as anyone the past 5 years. Their loss earlier in the year was at a neutral court at Indianapolis. This is a well balanced ND team that has the ability to spread the floor against the Hoyas. They have 3 legit shooters in McAlarney, Ayers, and Jackson, to go along with the big horse Harangody. They are a much mor e balanced team than the Hoyas, and should be able to take advantage at home. With such a tough conference each and every big east coach stresses how important it is to protect home court. Notre Dame's shooting ability, along with Harangody's presence on the glass should be enough for ND to win this game rather easily. I had this game set at ND -7 so I will glady lay the point.
