Arkansas Little Rock -8.5
Will continue to back the Trojans until they give me a good reason not to. This is a veteran group that plays defense and rebounds with the best of them at their level. They hold a +4.7 rebound average, and hold opponents to 40% shooting. They have great depth with no player averaging more than 33/mins a game. Arguably their most talented player, Stephen Moore, comes off the bench to average 13.4ppg so that shows just how deep they are. Matt Mouzy leads the team in scoring with 14ppg, and even more important 44.2% from 3 point range. The Trojans are long and athletic, and have the ability to take the ball to the basket, so Mouzy's ability to fill it up from outside gives UALR great balance. I expect them to dominate this game with their defense. Wright St is decimated by injuries. Their all league player and team leader Vaughn Duggins has been out, and will miss this game. Even more perplexing has been the decreased production of fellow all league performer Todd Brown. Brown who averaged double figures last season, averages only 4.4ppg this season. His outside shooting touch, which was his strength has disappeared. He is really struggling and isn't even getting the minutes he once did. With Duggins out, and Brown not his old self, Wright St who was picked to contend in the Horizon looks more like they will be fighting for a spot in the basement this season. They just don't have the offensive production to keep up. Evidence of this is that no scorer averages double figures. Playing at a defensive oriented team such as UALR on their home court where they are 18-3 in non coference games since the gym opened spells troubles for the Raiders tonight. This one should get ugly in a hurry and UALR shouldn't have a problem covering the 8.5
