Carolina under is my strongest team total opinion. Carolina was thin up front even without the loss of Justin Williams for an extended period of time. Watch for Laviolette to be the first coach to be fired this season, especially if they come out of the gate slow.
I'll be focusing at looking at situations to fade this team in the first two months.

Montreal U 99.5
Toronto O 76.5
Phoenix O 82.5

Agree with the Phoenix over and just took some. Leaning towards Montreal and Tampa bay under as well.

Agree with this. I think Cole's loss will be a factor for this season as well. I had Carolina pegged at 86 and that's with Williams.

They had 92 points last year. This year they have 2 games less against Atlanta and Florida and instead have to play Anaheim and Phoenix, twice. Good news is their other at large team is St Louis.

Depending on wheter the Kings get a goalie before the season starts I think they will be OVER. Also, the blue jackets will finish lower than 83.5

That Phoenix o82.5 looks mighty juicy. I am definitely going to get some action on that. Basically the books are saying that Phoenix is worse off for getting a leader and bonafide #1 centre in Olli Jokinen for Keith Ballard and Nick Boynton. Phoenix has some depth on defence... they can take this hit.

Hale, Jones, Jovanovski, Michalek, Morris, Sauer, Yandle are more than capable of picking up the slack, and a full year of Bryzgalov will definitely help.

This team will put up some goals, and I really think they go over the 83 point total of last year and hit 90-95 points and sneak into the playoffs. The only downfall is that they did have a very good divisional record last year. But at the same time, that is one heckuva tough division... nothing wrong with fewer games against Dallas, Anaheim, San Jose.

The more I read your thoughts the more I realize how informed and sharp you are. This post mirrors every thought I had yesterday before putting my money down on the Yotes.

No question their offense should see some improvement. Their defensive depth does concern me a bit. A good top four, but really young after that. They lost some scoring from the blueline with Boyton and Ballard's departure but may be more responsible defensively in return.

Your point about playing 6 less games against Anaheim, Dallas, and San Jose is always a positive despite their success against them last year. Bryzgalov played out of his mind against the Ducks and who knows if that same fire will still burn a year later.

Their 3 at large teams are the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, and Carolina Hurricanes. Quite a drop off from SJ, Ana, and Dallas.

Lastly I heard that The Hockey News came out with their top 20 players in all positions and omitted Bryzgalov off the goalie list entirely. Phoenix coaching will use it as a motivator.

I like it, I think we got very good value here. Yandle is a very good prospect on defence... if he can handle himself in his own end, he could emerge as their #2 guy this year. Let's hope Bryzgalov gets some motivation from the HN rankings.

Another note about Phoenix is that last year, they had the youngest age average in the NHL, and this year that average is even younger. The youngest team got even younger.

Montreal under, Kings over, Canucks under

watch the canucks pick. i'm from vancouver and i'm telling you straight up, don't underestimate them. they just went 4-0 in preseason with ROOKIES. each team they played was playing nearly an A team. Luongo has played 2 periods. the sedins are looking great, salo is taking shots from the point again (he's ranked #2 most feared point shot via TSN), demitra and bernier are great additions. just a heads up.

I agree with will add some more.....

two seasons ago the nucks defense scored over 75 Goals, last year with all the injuries on the blue line that dropped off by 40. That was the secondary scoring for the nucks.

Then you factor in the inability to head man the puck on the rush with a crippled defense core added the to the problems. That defense will all be healthy to start the year and the starting 6 is probably in the top 3 in the league, especially when you add in a luongo. It will be tough to get 3 goals against us on most nights

The last 2 months of the season luongo struggled as he had off ice distractions.

Both the twins, Matty Ohlund and the HC AV are all in contract years. The expectations in the city are low the pressure is finally off this team.

I think they will surprise they will be hard to play against as they are way tougher than they have been in years, in particular because of the addition of Darcy Hordichuck. We made cuts today and we still have 2 forward spots to fill with 6 skaters from last year. 3 off those guys are glove droppers as well; brown, rypein and cowan.

Becareful they should be better this year.

Well I'm not likely to invest in it, but view TB Over 91.5 as a fair move.

I'll more likely try to make my "TB" money via game to game selections.

Reasoning on the SeasonWins is that I really really think they can take last season's -44 goal margin and get back into at least mild black.

Teams with at least +10 scoring margin for last season topped 91.5 points with only one exception - Buffalo at 90 pts.

Is it just me or does the notion that Columbus could even get near the posted 83.5 seem rather far fetched?

My humble review of their offseason moves, in combination with their late-season moves this past spring suggests they have done little or nothing to improve on last season's 80 pt finish.

In regard to goal differential for Tampa Bay. I think whatever more offense they produce this year will be negated by increased goals allowed.

While it's hard to predict what to expect from the Bolts this year, (mostly due to Vinny's health), I think the lack of skilled, veteran blueliners will be the major weakness to overcome. Not only on the defensive side but from the lack of quality puck movers.

No way T.B. goes from -44 to +10 in one year. I do hope I'm dead wrong on this as I have a ticket on them. Like you Steve...my heart hopes for one thing. Unfortunately my head say's another.
